Best Shoulder Mount for EX1-R

Take a look at www.paguk.com
they have some great solutions...
but i also enjoying building my own rig... so i get what i want..
borrow ideas from different products...
and..then i get my own cheap and good solutions...

I'm looking for something that will support this rig plus the additional battery that will be at the rear of this camera.

At the moment, this picture does not show the extra battery in the back and the 2pound external monitor. I like a shoulder support that will support this rig and still remain balance.

I've been looking for a while too and in my opinion the the Protech St-7 comes as close to 'converting' a EX1/3 to a full size ENG like camcorder as it can get.

Other options:
VSB-1
http://studio1productions.com/vsb1.htm
-Cheap: 200 dollar
-Counterweight has no V-lock mount
-Counterweight points down, so no putting your camcorder on a table...
-Doesn't look like it has comfy shoulder pads...

DV rig Pro HD
http://www.dvtec.tv/id27.html
-A bit more expensive: 600 dollar
-Has V-lock mount on the shoulder brace!
-... but the brace itself points downwards
-Comes with hand grips on the front
-...but not clear if they can be removed if you only use the shoulder brace

Cavision RS1580S-SPE
http://www.cavision.com/rods/RS1580SSPE.htm
-Price?
-No V-lock mount
-Shoulder pad adjustable
-Handgrip removable (I think)
-Replacement shoulder pad WITH v-lock 'available soon'

Ah, that rules a lot of solutions out... maybe duct tape as a last resort? :) Where's the camera support on the photo from btw?

Yes, not to mention that from the mattebox to the end of the camera, it is already 45 inch and that's not include the extra battery that I will be putting in the back to balance the external monitor once I get them.

The camera is secured through thumb screw to the black metal bracket that mounts to the 15mm rods. I like get something stronger than a thumbscrew for this amount of weight, but I couldn't think of any way that is easy and cheap.

Hi Everyone, I saw some of you mention stronger mounts for your cameras so I wanted to let you know about the base plate I just released for the EX1. And the one I will be releasing this month for the EX1R. These are a great addition to add more mounting holes and a sturdier mount for your shoulder mounts a tripods.

The link above goes to my other post and thread. It shows the pictures I took today of the EX1R prototype on ANewman's camera. The EX1 plate looks the same except the different mounting points on the camera.

If it the plate uses the same screw hole on the EX1, how does it really make it stronger?
