What would be the best settings to shoot with when shooting a Television commercial? Also what would be the best capture and export settings to ensure the most lossless high quality look?
I'm shooting a 30sec commercial this weekend & plan on shooting 24p. This is done quite often from what I understand. Is there any benefit from shooting 60i over 24p. I find 24p looks more natural.
I would say 30p in 16:9. 30p will give you the best quality and is easier to shoot than 24p, and 16:9 letterbox that way it will be able to play on HD sets as well as standard 4:3 sets without artifacts or stretching.
I shoot 24p all the time with little or no difficulty,(with exception to low light shots). This is the first ad I have going to air & no one seems to really be offering any exampled reasons as to why be shooting 60i.
What is so difficult about shooting 24p, having it converted to BetaSp, then running it to air? Are there any problems with this? I can see no reason but perhaps an experienced shooter who has had 30sec commercials aired could shed some light on this cause my shoot is in 4 days and I would like to here if there are any problems with this.
It's not that big a deal. Just judder. Lack of smoothness in motion. And since lots of TV content is shot at 60i, it might be noticeable. Since you shoot 24p regularly, it's probably a non-issue for you.
clients are stupid.... i once sent off footage to a client that was 24p and i told them what they need to do. they put it into their project and they screwd it up.. so yah... Shot 60i dont get all fancy for TV dude..
