Hey guys and girls,

This video was done handheld with the HVX. I'm having trouble filling some voids. You see, the script called for some demanding animailshots, and we only got a few. - So I'm having problems filling the entire video.

Please give it some comments, I need to complete it and deliver.

Here is a direct link to a Quicktime H264 file

I can't really understand the lyrics...so, if there are animal references, I'm not getting them....anyway....have them fry up some steaks..... or show them chasing some pigs around and then cut it with some messy bacon samiches..... show the butcher shop... or have them at the grocery in the meat section.... get em in the field with the cows.... While the live stuff looks good, you DO need something else to cut to.......good luck!

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to hear. I've contacted the band to see if I could do completly new shoots to cut to.

The lyrics is really about how a guy could have a relationship with a girl that's only superficial, when partying and stuff like that. Not getting to see whats' beneath. But the band wants a funny video, which has nothing to do with the lyrics.

I was thinking about a guy in a gorilla costyme and a guy in a cow suit, they would do lots of human stuff (shopping groceries, driving to work and so on) - while falling in love. But I should think deeper into this.

Really some very nice shots and cutting in this piece. Like the circular tracking and the frenetic nature of things. I also think that the long dolly into the lead singer is the MONEY .. Major demo reel material there. Looked so darn good I had to watch it twice at that point. Liked the low shots of the Bass.. as I'm also a jackass Bass player... always needing more Bass. Loved the fast shutter....

My only criticism.. and I'm gonna sound like the queer eye for the HVX guy here.. so excuse this and I'm ashamed I noticed it.. is that the lead singer just doesn't look right in a wife beater. He's kind of puffy like me and just doesn't fit overall...

I'm also torn on the cow piss and cow as there's not a lot of it and a pissing cow is kind of... well, like a pissing cow.. it's a lot of drama and all that. Maybe with some more footage cut in it wouldn't seem so obtuse...

I personally think you got so much good stuff here that whatever you have to add would be really nice if it fits together. I think if you did a bunch of other things on a solid black limbo background you'd have money... Stuff outside of your set would be nice but probably require so much shooting. If you did it all on black, wouldn't need too much at all.

Very nice indeed overall. Impressed. Could you describe how you pulled off that sweet dolly and boom up shot? Your circular dolly? Overall lighting and process/settings?

Thanks again. Was pretty darn entertaining. Are they a native Norweigen Band? Also.. what's up with the Norweigen black metal business? Ever shoot any of that? That Mayhem band is some crazy mess...

Looks great.. just needs some variation.. People get bored quickly.. Need more eye candy.. More depth..

Otherwise, great camera work.. Try and keep your main guy lit..Seems a bit dark? Everyone else has a nice hard light on them.. he's pretty soft and dim..

Keep up the good work..

Thanks a lot. Very nice to hear. I also like the active camera movement.

I agree with you 100%. The singer is ok, but he should have shaved and maybe worn a tighter shirt or something. I also think that the guy in the red shirt steals a bit too much attention.

Yeah, I need to come up with something completly different. This didn't work out at all.

Sure! I love sharing. This is what I did:

1. Blackbox studio, light-rig directed at the band and the banner at the back. This is to make it easier for the public to understand that the camera is rotating around the scene their playing on.
2. I did all cameramovment handheld. But I did it skating on a skateboard. 360 dolly, boom up etc, I all did on the skateboard. Some came way of and I stabilized them i Shake. (Smoothcam in shake rocks!)
3. And I did some other shots standing on a wear-house trolly an assistant pushed around with me on it using the HVX handheld. A rock-video is very forgiving when it comes to "too much motion".
4. I think handheld is important to give a lot of motion to this "heavy" video.
5. I also lowered the light-rig, climbed on to it and I got an assistant to rise it. So I was hanging in the air to do the shoots from the top.

...and a little HVX secret. I shot this on tape. It's not HD.

Yeah, they are native Norwegians. I'm planning a video which is going to be *a lot* heavier. It's for another band named allfader wich just released an album world wide. (www.allfader.com) - But I havent started on it yet, a completely different project.

Thank you. A very valid tip. - I'll fix that.

Thanks for the info. Awesome that you did it on a skateboard. I do a lot of my camera movement the same way. Bought a nice smooth big board for just such things....

Amazed that it was mostly handheld too.. .smooth hands and Shake must be awesome. I might have to invest in that.... but I'm sure the learning curve is quite steep too though right?

Thanks for sharing. Would love to see your next one... Norweigens sure like it heavy... and why is that?

Thanks.
