best SD cards for T2i

Hi I pre ordered a canon 550 t2i, and I'm not sure what kind of SD card to get?
Ive been looking into the San Disk extreme 3 32gb 30mb/s SDHC card
is this a good card?
I'm really only going to be using the camera for the video mode, so I need a card that is fast.
If any one knows of good fast cards please let me know, I'm not really sure what to look for.

Any brand name card that's class 6 or higher. Those Sandisks are very fast.
Been a lot of threads about this in the Panasonic HMC150 forum. You can go search there for more info.

I would check the manual, but I believe it says class 6 or higher. Would class 4 work? Maybe. But I don't think the price difference justifies the risk.

From Patriot::

The LX Class 10 SDHC memory cards are fully
compatible with the latest SD Association specifications calling for a
minimum sustained write speed of 10MB/s and offer an incredible performance improvement over earlier SDHC standards

Peak speeds would be higher. Sandisk class 10 list their max throughput at up to 30MB/s 200x, but they are much more expensive, so you can't go by that ** corrected

We at least know the minimum is 10, but a user review on Newegg shows he tested it and it was around 18.

Also don't get so hung up on numbers myself and others have already pointed out that this card is fantastic and works, I have shot 1080p, 720p and several raw photos not stop using this card and it has performed flawless when transferring to my computer.

Buy it as opposed to the other OVER PRICED cards.

Exactly! I had patriot class 6 and they worked fine for video (the t1i manual even says so).

The T2i supports the soon to be release SDHX cards ....which will be the fastest yet. Just
hold on to your wallet.

I bought some ADATA class 6 16gb a while ago... SUCKED!!!!!!
It started crapping out on my friends Panasonic, HMC 150, then it failed while shooting RAW stills, then while recording video on my D90 then I threw it away...
I'll try those patriots! what other brands do you guys recommend?

I've done done the research and time, for cost and effectiveness the Patriot Cards right now are the best, simply flawless and work amazing with video and pictures.

The Sandisk are probably considered one of the better cards, but they cost a lot more. Truth is many of these memory cards all come from the same place and they just snap their own stickers and packaging on them, same goes for car batteries.

(I used to work in a car battery manufacturing plant, hence the reason I know)
