Best Scipts Ever!!

Well, I can assure you that mine is not one of the best scripts ever written. However, having read a few scripts myself, I feel confident that it is, at the very least, quite enjoyable.

In an attempt to validate my lofty claims I have posted the script in the Unproduced section of simplyscripts.com. If anyone has any interest in checking it out, I would be delighted to hear what you have to say. Unless, of course, you're not fond of it, then just pretend you never read it.

hey, the best way to prove us all wrong is by posting them.

usually people who think they write the best scripts ever usually end up writing really painfully "deep" and "intellectual" crap. the kinds of people who write the subtext in under the dialogue, saying "LOOK AT MY DEEP CHARACTERIZATION GUYS!! LOOK IT'S ALL THERE!!". somebody usually kills themselves in the script too, because that's really dramatic and sad.

my experience anyway.

so prove us wrong. post your scripts. if they're the best ever, who can argue with them? plus i want the chance to be able to say in ten years "I KNEW OMAR JUAREZ BEFORE HE WAS FAMOUS OMGLOLROFL". let's see it.

Everyone's first script is 'the best script ever' just ask any screenwriter and they will tell you the same thing. We all believe it's the best thing since apple pie or white bread. It's not cocky, it's just naive until we submit that script to an analysis and they tell us it's dog food. Every single screenwriter goes through this experience.

My first script, "Keys of Caesar" I thought was STELLAR, it did make the quarter finals of the Austin Film Festival, but didn't advance beyond that. Still, I thought it was going to be the bomb!

Very entertaining. Very entertaining indeed.

Why don't you guys start a new thread with a basic story premise, followed by contributions from each of you until it becomes a fully realized "best ever" 110 page script? And no, I'm not being sarcastic.

It will be the best ever forum-derived screenplay! On the entire internet...

pest - anything is possible but here are the stats, it takes the average of 9, yes, 9 screenplays written before you can sell one, and I don't mean some meager optioned contract, I mean low to mid straight up, with mid to high when in production. The truth is that many scripts get sold, some will never see the light of day on a set, they never get made.

Working in Hollywood as a writer usually means you're rewriting someone else's work. The odd of you selling your script and directing your script, you better then win the Nicholl Fellowship sponsered by the Academy of Motion Pictures. The guy who wrote "Akeela and the Bee" wrote and directed this, but got sold ONLY after he won the contest. It then took him 5 years to convince someone that he and only he should direct it.

It can happen, but it doesn't happen often. Put this script in one of the five major script contest: Disney, Nicholl, Chesterfield, Austin and Sundance. If it wins in one, then maybe you have the best script ever written.

Would this be something like... When your in the third grade, and the teacher goes around the classroom making each student tell what happens next during a random story? By the end, the teacher reads the story to the class? That would turn out to be a twisted flick... it could be a DVXUser Production haha... That would be fun...

And each person can direct a scene; each scene shot with a different camera, at different frame rate!

Hah! different locations and actors also! Maybe somebody would wanna make an animated movie and we just use our voices haha...

this is starting to sound like that todd solondz movie, what's it called

where the little girl is played by like 2439743 different people

how would you know how good any of the scripts for movies are? The script for hostel 2 could have been fabulous! but i've only seen the movie so i wouldn't know.

Nathan? What are you talking about? You can download most scripts off the internet. Its a fun hobby of mine to read scripts from my favorite movies.

You should check out LA Confidential. Compare it to the movie.

Statistically everyones first 3 scripts are complete crap. (And the first 3 drafts of each script generally suck too). After that they get adequate. After dozens they got proficient, anfter hundreds they become adept, and after thousands maybe just maybe become a master.

And no you can't just fake your first hundred and then jump out TADA!

Most scripts online are 'production' scripts, so the formatting is a little different than a spec script. If you want to understand how a script was originally written, look for first drafts online instead of the shooting script.

I've read blogs on how a writer's script was totally mangled by development and the director to where the story was unrecognizable. So if you can find that first draft or early draft, that's what you should be reading.

I have some of the..uhh.....hmmm....maybe neat kindof scripts ever?
And I decided to animate one of em...we'll see how that goes :/

this thread is fun :D

HaHa... Well, if you need a voice, call me haha... My voice isn't exactly "cool" but it'd be cool to do a voice over on the animation movie..........
