Hallo,

wanted to ask you guys if you couls suggest me a rig with follow focus cheap but with good quality. On amazon and eby there are too many on the range of 100$ but i never tryed them. I tryed the Zacuto stuff, amazing quality but definetly of of range for me! What do you guys use to shoot with your nikons?
Thank you

Go to Amazon and take a look at NEEWER and Opteka products. You'll want to sift through the reviews, but both brands have some quality budget gear, can't hold a candle to Zacuto though.

I personally use an Opteka X-Cage rig with a DIY version of an iKan gearless follow focus.
The cage is kinda heavy because some parts are steal instead of aluminum, and Opteka rods don't align perfectly, so there's a bump when sliding something over the seem of two joined together.
I stripped a 2nd cage down to be almost identical to a Zacuto base plate, a good design, but really front heavy.

The Fotga 500 follow focus is under $200, and is pretty remarkable for the price. Amazon also sells spare focus stops and a larger gear. The stops can unscrew in your case if you're not careful, a spare set for under ten bucks is well worth it.

The Fotga rail setup with baseplate, rods, and a lens support is good for the cheap end (it's about $70). You can slide the lens support under the base plate to get more support for the camera. I still have a couple of these laying around and use them when I rent bodies for multicam shoots.

the problem with most "DSLR" rigs is they can flex when you get a little weight on them. You really want the rails to have two points of contact with the tripod plate and with the baseplate to spread out the load.
