Hi guys,
I'm from Australia.
Im using final cut pro, and im shooting with a sony hdr fx100 and a sony EX1R.
I want to create a droplet in compressor that will give me the best quality results for a). a DVD/film and b). a clip in Vimeo. I want these two droplets as i am unsure about whether or not i am using the correct settings, and i want to maximise the quality of my production.
If anyone can let me know how to create these i would be very greatful, and if someone can make me a droplet i will pay money.
Thank you

So I made these droplets last year, created from FC Studio 3 (Compressor 3.5)

I included, iphone 3/3G +, iPad version +, Youtube 720p and Vimeo 720p

That gives you a starting point and you can tweak form there, make them full 1080p if needed.

Thanks very much! I appreciate it!

How about one for a surf movie that i want to put onto a DVD?

There are several presets in Compressor for use in authoring SD DVDs. All are based on the total length of the video in minutes.

But are these presets the best quality possible?

Also when you say "SD DVD" does this still include dvds i want to make in HD?

For all practical purposes, yes.

Your second question is unclear.

DVD SP does not support blu ray authoring. The presets are for SD DVDs only.

Remember that this is a "set it and let it run" compression process. The commercial releases you see from major motion pictures do not operate this way. Rather, a professional compressionist is called in to create the DVD-ready files. These folks get paid well for what they do, and they almost literally compress the video frame-by-frame. It's a time-consuming process that takes a talented eye and a vast, working knowledge of how compression algorithms work. We won't get the same quality from Compressor, or MPEG StreamClip, or Sorenson, or ______. But for what Compressor does, the DVD pre-sets work really, really well.

Compressor and DVDSP have settings for HD DVD, but that's a format that lost the war to Blu-Ray. You'll be hard-pressed to find HD-DVD media, or burners, or players.
