Best possible widescreen with limited tools

Okay guys I'm a little confused as to which method of obtaining a fake widescreen will work best for me.

My first option is using the digital squeeze mode and just leaving it at that.

My second option is recording in 4:3 and uprezzing to 16:9 using resizor2 (an Adobe After Effects Plugin)

Which method is the clear winner?

Shoot 4:3, then crop to 16:9 in post. This will allow you to re-frame a little if you need to. It will also alow you to see outside your frame when shooting (for example to keep a mic boom clear).
Often the 16:9 conversion is better quality in post too.
