Hi there,

I just got a c300 mark II and I really like it. What a great camera.

I am now looking for a good monitor/recorder. Ideally a solid monitor as priority and a big plus if it can invest raw (but not a deal breaker).

I love sound devices products, they are solid and reliable... I was looking at the pix e series but it seems like you can't get 4K from the SDI, at least from the c300m2. Is that correct?

Thank you for sharing your experience and for your suggestions.

IMO, it is only a matter of whether you want the Atoms Shogun Flame or the Convergent Design Odyssey7Q+ because they are the two most established brands for RAW recording on the C300 Mark II.

I think the Shogun Flame is the better buy simply from a value perspective (the RAW recording is included). The Odyssey7Q+ seems to have better build quality but is also heavier and much more expensive (RAW capability is a costly optional purchase).

The Video Devices products do not support RAW from any camera so you can't get 4K into the Pix-e from a C300 II. A huge let down by Sound Devices.

I know, right I was set on sound devices, I love their stuff but this seems like this is not going to work. Although I could get prores 4K from hdmi or not? Not ideal anyway...

Which one has the best display/monitor? Odyssey or shogun?

Thank you both for your help

The C300II does not output 4K through either the HDMI or SDI ports. Just RAW.
