Im filming a concert on my A1, i had a practice run last night, i was using gain (agc was off, everything was fully manual) but obviously the gain turned into tons of grain. What are the best settings for filming low light while still obtaining a crisp HD image?

im going on a road trip tomorrow with a rap group named The Pack (they do the vans song)

and just wanna make sure i got it as down as i can.

Thanks

jordan

There's a low-light setting in the DVinfo custom preset file. Sorry no time to link you. If you still haven't found it tomorrow I'll get you the link.

<3 and this wont be all grainy?

Didn't have the chance to try it out yet but it's the preset bballplaya is talking about.Maybe you should do some test shooting (with a little tweaking) and see if it works.

We shot three weeks and had grainy problems in HD. We had to smash the blacks in post and it looked pretty crappy.
Then we did this:

turned off AGC
turned off AWB
We did our white balance
we went into the gain conrol and tried putting it at -3 then 0 then 3 then 6 and we chose the best of those settings.
then we checked for zebras and got rid of those by opening up the iris
then we shot it.
we went home and put it on the old HD Plasma and it was so amazingly clear. We finaly got our settings down after three weeks of headaches thanks to the help of DVX users at this forum. We couldn't have done it without this site.

Yeah that's the lowlight preset I talked about. I forgot I posted in this thread so my follow-up is late.
