C100: Best HDMI cable? Best guide track mic?

I want an HDMI camera for my Ninja 2 recorder. A thin one would be cool...

Also want some sort of tiny self-powering mic to hook into the mic input on the camera body rather than using the handle for my guide track.... what's available?

The black HDMI cable from the Apple Store was the thinnest I found. Easy to loop and tie off with a twist tie. I had tried many others before I discovered this one. There is no quality difference between HDMI cables except when covering great lengths.

However, if you are often dismounting your Ninja or moving it into various positions then a cable with rotating connectors is better. The Apple cable is great if you are happy with the present position and aren't torquing on it.

Cool, those look like good options...

Thanks!

For the guide track I will use a com tek or some really chip wired powered lav...

There was a thread about this here and IIRC most solutions needed a small preamp and
then a mini mic for a dictation machine.
So you end up with some coiled cables and gaffers tape - I rather use my MKE400 so far.
If you find a really small solution, please post here!

Looks like a solid mic, but that's $$$ for a guide mic. I want to use it for music videos for syncing and as a guide track for narrative, not for high quality sound. I already own a 416, getting a hyper (either an MKH50 or MK012) and lavs if necessary, but usually I hire out sound as it is not my strength.

Tempted:

Could work with an iPhone, too.

Ideally I'll ditch the Ninja 2 and get a Ninja Star. Ergonomically it just doesn't work on such a small camera but the image is great.

i got and like this cable:

and i had the same need for a mic for guide track when i didn't want to use the top handle, it does indeed need to be self powered, and there's not a lot of ultra small options. the one i finally found and like quite a lot is this little(ish) guy:

Rode videomic pro works for me when I want to go walk around low profile without handle, but I haven't been doing that much lately. Even when I don't need the best audio, I like having that handle there.
If you're shooting in a controlled environment like a music video, do you really need to ditch the handle?

Handle and 416 gets annoying.

I wish I could ditch the Ninja 2. Getting a Ninja Star but I want to figure out how to use SD cards in stead of CFAST...

Why do you want to use unreliable and slow SD cards? CFAST cards are really cheap.

Where? Prores is not that big a file format and I have the SD card slot on my rMBP anyway.

I like having as small a rig as possible. The Ninja 2 is 670g fully outfitted, whereas the Ninja Star seems to be 230g. That's not that small.

Now that I know this is available:

I might switch to a Ninja Star mounted on top of the camera, but I'm not sure it wouldn't be better just to get a Nanoflash. More reliable, cheaper media, and SDI timecode SYNC. Turns the C100 into a "real" camera.
