Best HD video for DOF backup Camcorder: 7D or T1i?

I do alot of short films and am looking for a DSLR just to help me with my DOF film clips. I have a HMC40 already and want to accomodate it with a DSLR for video purposes. Please help me out here. Thanks. Pros and cons on both as well

Now I am leaning on the Gh1.....been researching about this and also the new gh2 is gonna be probably even better than the 7D and Markii

The t2i takes the Canon EF lenses and can be adapted to several other lens mounts including Nikon, Olympus, Pentax K, and Pentax Screwmount.

The GH1 is well regarded on here but keep in mind that you'll have a hard time finding a true wide angle lens for it due to the 2X crop factor. Hope this helps!

t2i has an overheating issue... don't know if you shoot in hi heat situations or for long periods but you may consider 7d simply because of this...

Do you have t2i that you are actually able to say this honestly from your own experience ? Or its just blind following of opinion from some guy living in mexico shooting under sun and wondering why his cam overheats ?
I have t2i,buy it,its a gem for the price you wont find better deal,24p alone is pricey ,not mentioning movie like depth of field.

There is absolutley nothing official about a gh2 yet. Anything you read on the net is just people guessing. Don't put false hopes in a camera that may or may not eventuate. If you want a Cheap HDSLR camera now, then get either the t2i or GH1. If you have nothing to shoot in the meantime and are willing to wait, then do. But don't exepect the GH2 to be better than the 5dmkii when you have no solid information at all.

Sigh, everyone likes defending their purchases to the death. What an ignorant statement about a guy shooting in Mexico.

I'm curious as to how you just decided to go with the T2i because the guy said "if its only video, go with the T2i". Are you not concerned with why he suggested it?

I've used both and the T2i overheated faster than my 7D (the 7D does suffer from overheating as well, but in the brief time I used the T2i it overheated more quickly - search around the boards, someone may have come up with a valid reason as to why it happens).

Consider things like the more robust body (weather sealed, makes shooting in extreme conditions easier), the beter HDMI out (the 7D seems to have this one over even the 5D) and the ability for more ISO options with the 7D.

These may seem like trivial things to users suggesting the T2i, but maybe it is beneficial that the OP knows these things. It could sway his decision - it might not matter to you, but it could to him.

There's plenty of 7D vs T2i threads - look for them.

Thanks everyone, Im not in a hurry but am anxious to use one.
I heard that if I buy the Gh1 I could buy the kit for $1150 then turn around and sell the lens for $600-$700 since the lens itself sells for $800. Also the GH1 has no limitations to shooting more than 12 minutes like the T2i/7D. The only thing that holds me back from the GH1 at the moment is the lowlight weaknesses it has just like my HMC40.....and that is something I am sad about my 40. Thanks....Keep it comin
