HPX250: Best Green Screen settings

I am using my HPX250 for the first time on a green screen shoot. I like the Cine D setting. Should I lower the detail setting (below 0) for the cleanest Green Screen Keying? I'm shooting 1080 at 30P. Also will 10 bit make for better keys than my old HVX200's 8 bit or is that only a function of 4:2:2 color space? Thanks!

Yes, you should lower the detail setting; edge enhancement (which higher detail setting provide) works against good keys.

Between 10-bit 4:2:2 and 8-bit 4:2:2, 10-bit is theoretically better (how much better, dunno). But I expect 8-bit 4:2:2 would still key better than 10-bit 4:2:0, all other things being equal (and in greenscreen work, there are many, many other things).

Thanks! I'll drop the detail to -7 and see what happens.
Try detail around -3 or 4 add some detail coring +2 or so and definitely use the AVC I . 1080 in DVC pro is NOT 1080, it's 1280 x 720 non square pixels. 1080 in avc I is actually 1080x1920 square pixels, which is a very large difference in actual resolution.

Color compression tends to have a larger impact... For example, a photograph from a camera (recorded as a high-quality JPEG) is an 8-bit image with 4:4:4 color, and I can make very accurate color selections in Photoshop on these kinds of images.
Basically, bit-depth just gives you more "steps" between white and black, so looking between an 8-bit and even 16-bit image straight out of camera is going to reveal no difference until you start playing with the color correctors.
