Best Glidecam (or competitor model) for A1+Adapter?

Hi,

As I understand it, the Glidecam 4000 is for cameras up to 10 pounds, and an A1 with an adapter just crosses that mark, I believe.

Are people getting good results with a "10 pound max" apparatus or have they had to step it up to the next level?

Any recommendations for a setup?

Thanks guys (and gals)

my package is 14 pounds. I fly just fine with the GC4000 pro and smoother shooter.

So I'm kind of stuck here... Is it true that the Merlin can barely handle the weight of a naked XHA1 before even thinking about adding an adapter? Most of what I've been reading suggests that it is the superior option if it can handle the weight of your setup.

Yes. I couldn't balance the A1 on the Merlin at all with the big battery inside, only the small one.

Thanks.

Does anyone know of a good online resource for specific instructions on counterbalancing the Glidecam for your given camera?

Everything I am finding just says "trial and error" or "keep adding and rearranging weights" but there is little in the way of specific instructions. I mean, the principles of mass and physics don't really change, so there should be at the very least some good specific guidelines (in theory).
