Got a get a good mixer in the mix regardless of agc issue. The juicedlink DT454 is the minimum needed for the 5D or the 7D. For the 7D it has an agc defeat. Waiting for a firmware upgrade for agc defeat doesn't' completely solve the sound issue if sound is important to you because you need decent preamps and easy trim controls. Just plugging a mic into the canon body isn't really the best way to get good sound.
