If this isn't the right place for this, please tell me where to put it and I'll delete this one.

As the title says, I'm eventually going to be looking into getting a new camera. I don't have too much of a problem with it being used, as long as it's from a reputable website or dvxuser. Any suggestions?

Oh really. I was looking at a used GL2 from BH, but a dvx would be great. Of course, I'm going to be getting the camera a long way down the road (perhaps even as late as next summer), but I'm just checking into what my options are.

Keep you eye on the Marketplace section of this site and you'll see some good deals on well-maintained DVXs.

like the 2-legged horsey says buy the DVX100a, or if you want HDV buy the HV20 for $1100 + the wide angle lens for less than $200.

How does the DVX100a look on a big screen high def TV? Basically, if I give somebody a DVD I want it to look good no matter what they watch it on (within reason).

I've seen DVX100A footage shown in a movie theater and it looked great, so I wouldn't really worry about it looking bad on an HD set. If it's shot well, it should look pretty good on anything.

I looked at the GL2 and DVX100A long ago, bought the DVX and love it! Absolutely no regrets -- it's a great camera.

That all depends on your production value. If you don't have a decent work flow you have been working with I'm sure your first few attempts might not look good. You have to test everything before you send out anyway. I had problems with moire patterns and aliasing in the beginning and didn't know why but figured it out finally after weeks of testing.

Patterns and aliasing? This sounds quite alien to me. I hope it comes with literature to explain all of that.

Nope, it turned out to be an NLE problem and capturing problem. I was just illustrating that it might be wise to test a bunch first.

What would be the advantages of a DVX or an HV20? I know a few of them, but perhaps somebody more experienced would be able to enlighten me?
