Best camera for ~ $2000

I'm considering opting for an HV20 instead of a DVX, for the following reasons:

As far as I know, the main advantages of a DVX over an HV20 are better manual controls and XLR inputs. These are both things I could upgrade on the HV20 later if I decide I need it (35mm adapter and Beachtek adapter) while still coming out to around the same price of a DVX. Besides, the picture of an HV20 is great, and HD is nice.

One thing I'm worried about though, is whether I have the computer setup to edit HD. Pentium D dual core, 1gig of ram (which I could easily upgrade), and Premiere Pro 2.0. Would this be suitable for it?

dude you don't know ANYTHING about what you're doing

go do some research then come back. it's honestly not that hard to figure out.

it's a little thing called "the internet"

in 10 minutes you could go find specs of people's computers who are editing HD, you could find multiple web pages comparing different cameras and you could find multiple different places to buy each of those cameras. but no one's going to do the work for you, because, if you're not wlling to do the work to figure out what kind of equipment you want or how much you should spend, why should anyone think you'll do the work to figure out what kind of shot to use or how to make an idea happen? All you'll do is keep posting online about what you want and hope people give you all the answers.

I've read several reviews from people who have made the switch from DVX to HV20 and enjoyed the results, but I'm asking to find information from the perspective of people who stick with their DVX. I can, and have done research on necessary computer hardware, but I know that the bare minimum reccomended is rarely enough and some people have different experiences than others. I'm not asking these questions to try to get you to do the work for me, I'm asking for your opinions to compliment my research.

I'm by no means reliant on others telling me what to do, but part of making an informed decision is getting the input of those more experienced than yourself.

If you don't want to provide any useful information, or say anything more than "look it up yourself", then hit the back button. I'm not demanding anything of anyone.

No offense, but you are expecting the rest of us to do the work for you. Anyone here would gladly help you if you have specific questions to ask, not "How does this camera compare to this other one?" That's the kind of questions that have been written about and debated to death. There are at least 20 threads on this, including TWO detailed articles in the ARTICLES section of the forum which you have not bothered to read.

Seriously, hit the search button, do the research, and come back when you want clarification.

I will help you do the work that is what we are (well at least me) here for.

This late in the game I would say get the hv20. It is HD24p,cheaper, and easier for a newbie to get started.

Spend the rest of the cash on lights and production equipment.

Here is the best camera for around $2,000, as far as I'm concerned:
