GH4 Best Cage for the GH4 with locking device for it's HDMI connector.

I've modified my Honu cage, basically just skinny-ing it up a bit. Here's a cellphone pic:

And there are more here:

I didn't like the Honu's pointless space on either side of the camera, and I wanted to be able to rotate the LCD flat, so I brought each side plate in about 12mm, and moved the left one forward about 10mm. I had to make some small reliefs for the strap lugs, and file the front edge of the card-door relief a bit to allow the door to open enough. The battery door still clears just fine. The drive dial and the exposure-comp button are a little hard to get to; the dial is no biggie, but I may do some filing for the button. I'll also be rounding some corners here and there, and I think I'll JB Weld the cage's joints for a little extra strength.

This is just the beginning of this project; I still have an idea for a quick-release lo-pro top-handle and counterweight system to work on, for skate-style followcam shooting with a fisheye, and I'll be adapting the CoolLCD HDMI clamp as some of you have done. I'll post updates as I get things done.

For those asking about the MotionNine cage, I plan to do a thorough review on it next week once I get the riser I ordered (already in transit). Thanks for your patience.

In short though, it's great so far and I'm loving the fully enclosed handle!

Cheers,

Paul :)

Looking forward to that Paul, I'll be very interested in your opinions on this cage. I have a bunch of little niggles I have to sort out with the Varavon, some of my making, some not.

Received the Skier Litecage today, overall I think it's solid. I was also impressed that I received the package in just 3 days from HK to NYC!

I was debating between this and the motion9 cube cage, and I went with the Skier because it's a bit cheaper, and I like how it leaves the grip side of the camera open. Here's two pics:

Looks OK, can you add some more pics showing the GH4 screen movement limits, cable clamp system and access to top buttons?

Thanks for the helpful info. For Skier cage,I have one question. Isn't the vertical rod at the right side of cage bother you when you grab the camera?
