Best Budget Slider?

Yes, it will work with the tripod.

There are a few options:
1. Get another 75mm ball adapter and an inexpensive fluid head (like a 701HDV). Mount the head to the carriage. Mount the half-ball on the bottom of the rail. When you want to use the slider, remove the head from your tripod, put the rail on, put your camera on the head and you're ready to go.

2. Remove the ball adapter from your current head (there are usually set-screws up through the bottom) and mount the rail to it. Mount your head on the carriage...put the camera on and shoot.

3. Buy both a tripod and a fluid head (like I did) just for the slider. I got a old Bogen 3046 and a 701RC2 on eBay for under $200.00. Now my sliders (1000mm & 700mm), the carriage w/head and the tripod travel as a kit to every shoot.

I'm sure there are more.... hope that helps. Feel free to contact me directly zaza@zazaslider.com

Cool, I think I'll go with option 2 for now. If I understand correctly, going that route is a bit more of a hassle to set up but it means I won't have to buy anything extra, correct? As I mentioned I'm on a bit of a budget and don't mind a little extra set up time for now until I can afford more gear.

Correct. You can always update and re-rig in the future. This will get you sliding!

I have an IGUS slider, which is just like that zazaslider but with DIY feet; much cheaper, but not nearly as nice

I build system which work really well I am able pan and slide the camera made it out of a kiddies skateboard , counter-top wast wood with guides and old tripod head, if you want to be even smoother use a pro skateboard.
