Hi all,

Anybody here have any experience with underwaterrigs for the hmc. Any recomendations or suggestions.

Need to do some underwater( not to deep maybe 5-6 feet under) stuff later this year.

Thanks .

I highly recommend Jim Bailey's custom housings. I had one for my HVX and it was absolutely great. When I sold it with my HVX I actually made a profit on the housing... Not too shabby. You can have it totally built to accomodate a fisheye or whatever you want, tripod plate was a nice touch, and you can make it have whatever controls you want. You can check him out at www.waterhousings.com

They are custom and handmade.... Usually good for up to 30 feet and the most lightweight housings you can buy... probably 1/3 the weight of a Gates housing... he can build deep water housings too.

I have some photos of my old one if you want to watch.

The role of the voyeur never suited me Justyn but yes I would like to watch ...some pictures of your old UW rig ! :):)

Here's my DIY underwater rig for the HV20 (now HV30).

The HMC150 won't fit into this housing, and to be honest I don't mind taking an $800 camera underwater, but I'm a little skittish about taking a $3500 camera underwater unless its a really solid housing and I've thoroughly tested it.

The above housing works pretty well and I haven't had any leaks, but I would look at a professionally made housing for the HMC150. They cost a significant amount, but I wouldn't want to risk my HMC150 underwater, regardless of the depth, unless I had a lot of confidence in the housing.

Man, you bring up my main concern... Im just not sure cutting a hole in an army box with a piece of plexy is going to cut it :undecided

Id like to see any others DIY rigs, might attempt one eventually...
