Best Affordable Low-Light Lens

I spent a hair over 300 for a used nikon 50mm 1.2, and another 35 on an adaptor. Incredible lens, smooth like butter.

Great lens, but boy it was HARD trying to justify paying 3x as much for that half a stop over the 50mm F1.4. Especially knowing how soft that lens is at 1.2. When you have to have it, you have to have it though.

You know, it's actually razor sharp at 1.2, both on video and 12mp stills, it's just such an incredibly short depth of field that it's easy to think it's the lens making the shot soft, rather than user error. I've done a series of tests with the lens so far, and if you nail the focus, it's really really sharp. I also wanted the feel of a real focus ring, and I liked the way the lens felt. Now, I'd love a shorter lens with a good maximum aperture, that's the real challenge!
