Best Adobe Premiere Workflow?

Hi,

I've just got the D90 and I was wondering what is the best workflow to edit it's footage on Adobe Premiere CS3. I mean, should I convert the footage to a specific format/codec and then open a specific type of project on premiere? I also have Cineform Aspect Hd if it helps. Anyway, any help would be welcome. Thanks!

Rafa

I'm interested as well; as I might start using Adobe for video editing.

Anyone here have any recommendations?

pc or mac????? that would really help narrow down the work flow. if you're a pc guy...just edit the native d90 files in a 720p 24f timeline and you're good. Just make sure you have the proper mjpeg codec.

i'm not a mac guy, but just do a little search in the d90 forum and you'll see lots of posts going over exactly what you're looking for. i'd be you'll find one on the first page.

is it fine to apply the stairstep fix after the Premiere edit?
if so, what should the file be exported as in Premiere?

yeah, sure it's fine. all you need to do is bring in your project file into AE...no need to render out to a new codec.

i'm probably repeating smth already posted here...
I'm a PC users with Adobe CS4 studio
my previous steps were to do the stairstep fix via avs script in virtual dub (painful process each time to replace filename, wait for each file to convert, etc.)

i want to switch this stairstep fix to AE.
I tried the link here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=149797
but looks like this is for mac.

what exactly are your steps, code etc for AE on PC, pls share.
thank u

my steps are Premire Pro CS4, edit...pull the project file in AE and do the stair step fix...but...my stair step fix is the "build yo" method. it's the displacement map filter using his .tif file...no difference to my eyes.

Car3o, thank you!

i'm new to AE as well. thus struggling with it.
can you please share the files or links of the fix you use and exact steps in AE...
i dont know what do do there, how to compile , etc....

thank you!!

thank u! after opening and replacing the file with your footage , what does one do to compile/process/export?

i'm brand new to AE...

But how do you bring the project file into the stair step fix composition in AE? The way on Dynamic Link isn´t possible, replace footage in Ae with the PP-Project-file isn´t possible...

up top go to composition/add render queue

and that's kind of up to you. i use
render settings:best or current settings
output module: whatever output you want

just import the project from PP into AE like you would a video file.

Ok, maybe I´m a little bit slow on the uptake today. If you import a project-file this way into AE + let´say there are about 20 clips in this timeline, you`ll get 20 Clips in the Project window. And then you drag each single clip down to the TL and replace it?

nope, it acts as just one video file and you do the stair step like you would with one single video.

it's like this.

Shoot video. Import video into PPro. Cut video. Save project. Close PPro. Open AE. Import PPro project. That's it. Do the rest of the work outlined in the stair step thread. Export. Done.

again, this is CS4...if you have older versions, this could all be different.

...

Not for me - take a look:

In this example are only 2 clips in the pp-timeline. When I import this poject from pp you can see in the project-window of ae

1 pp-folder
2 avi´s
1 composition

It´s AE CS4...

that was just a quick AE I put up for if you wanted to try the stair step fix. i don't think you can replace the video with a PPro project file.
here's my grab
