Best 4K Recorder for A7s?

Hi All,

Just wondering your opinions on the most suitable 4K external recorder for the A7s (original)?

Shogun Flame/Inferno & O7q+ seem like overkill for simple 4K 25p ProRes over HDMI - though I'm likely getting an Inferno for my FS700 (time for a 4K overhaul of my whole kit!). Are there any other 4K/HDMI options apart form the Ninja Flame and Blackmagic assist? How does the original Shogun compare to those offerings - is it getting a bit long in the tooth compared to the new features like HDR monitoring, dual batteries etc? And is the Blackmagic worth it at the price point or does is just not compare to the more fully-featured Ninja Flame?

I could trade up for an A7sII but the overall price is a bit higher than buying a recorder, and I like the idea of having 4K ProRes from both my main camera and B-camera.

There's also Video Devises PIX series that start at $1,195 for a 5" monitor/recorder.

A used Shogun is a pretty good option if you are on a budget. I like the shogun because it is quite a bit smaller and lighter and cheaper than the new Atomos recorders and has most of the features. You can get a used shogun for around $900 and it makes a pretty nice little monitor with LUTs etc.

Unfortunately in Australia a used Shogun is around the $1800 dollar mark - pretty much exactly the same price as a new Ninja Flame. Is there any reason to go for a Shogun over the Ninja Flame other than price?
