FS7: Best 24-70 2.8 with Fs7?

Just curious, but what's wrong with the 24-105 IS?

I still use it because for me it's more flexible than any of the 24-70's, but the biggest problems I have with it are:

1) Darkening at the long end
2) Very pronounced barrel distortion at wide angles.

I use it with a Speedbooster too, I think it's a great option for a general purpose lens, but I know it's not perfect and I'm careful to avoid certain situations, like straight lines near the edges of the frame. I find the IS to be incredibly good though other's don't seem quite so happy with it.

I'm trying to decide between the Canon 24-70 2.8 ii and the new Sony 24-70 2.8. Anyone have any thoughts on these two lenses on the Fs7? I do also have an A7Rii which would benefit from the native lens, but I'm reluctant to buy Sony lenses since all my glass is Canon mount.

Right now I rely on the Canon 24-105 IS often and am not happy with the results. I do have a full set of very nice primes but sometimes the zoom is necessary, and I can't afford $5k+ for a lens.

If there is a better overall zoom I'm open to other options too, but the performance of the 24-105 - especially the transmission loss - are killing me. It would be nice to also get good still performance the A7r.

Appreciate any input - thanks!

One thing to note about any Sony lens--it's for full frame and as the FS7 is super-35 and has a Sony mount,
you will not be getting a true 24-70 image due to the crop factor. Better to go with the Canon via a Metabones adaptor so you can actually get an image that is 24-70.

I'm in the same situation and I think I'm going to pick up the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC along with the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 VC. Buying from big gray market sellers, both lenses come it at about $1,800, total. I'll use both on a speed booster most of the time. I have two Sony e-mount zooms, the 18-105mm and the 18-200mm, so if I get desperate for AF or for range, I can use one of those in a pinch. But personally, I need f/2 and IS more than any other "feature." (IQ is a given.)
