Picked up this baby off Ebay. It's listed as BRAND NEWNewLens.jpg

Despite the wear of the box it does look brand new and paid $23 shipped. As the title says, it's Rokinon 70-180mm F 4.5 Canon FD Lens.

Not the best buy unfortunately, at least in terms of low light. F 4.5 is to...low, it doesn't let enough light in and I'm getting the worst banding I've yet seen in low light at the same ISOs I've used on lenses with F 1.7 to mid F 2s. My Minolta MD 50mm F 1.7 looks a lot better.

I'll have to try it in daylight to see how it looks. Normally during the day I have to close the lens down quite a bit. If you're having some banding issues, try a faster lens.

I appreciate the review; let us know how it handles in daylight. And at least you only spent $23; even if it doesn't work for you at all, that's only the equivalent of a couple of movie tickets lost!

I couldn't shoot anything outside yesterday since it rained, so I took some footage down my trusty hallway.

I have some other shots, with more banding at lower ISO but I forgot to record what they were. That shot is at 1000 iso. That's a screen grab from 1080p footage, and I resized it to around 720p. Overall decent and I think the banding will be very manageable on this cam.

To compare other lenses, here's a vid I did down the same hall. Static shot, but the lighting makes the hall look nice and spooky. http://vimeo.com/21399962
