Bebob Zoe DVXL - Fix for creeping zoom ?

I just supported the board on a piece of wood with hole drilled in it. While ensuring the pot itself was supported by the wood around the hole I aligned the broken peg over the hole. Then using a small screwdriver just tapped the broken peg out. All went well in all three cases of wheel replacement.

OK, thanks Chris, I'll give it a go.

Edit: Mission accomplished
Thanks again.

Bourns pots are printed on the side (generally). You are looking at some very small money if those pots have bad spots in them, maybe $15 after shipping with the most expensive vendor chosen.

Knew I should have left well enough alone ! The zoom creep hadn't returned, but in an idle moment I thought I'd check the potentiometer resistance with a mate's high quality multimeter (Fluka 177).

The null position resistance measured across the middle (white cable) and third (green cable) was 9.96K Ohm. Managed to tweak it to 10K Ohm - had to repeat it several times though as it went slightly off again when tightening the two set screws under the rocker.

(That photo was taken before I replaced the MSR wheel - it's just to show the terminals)

Total resistance measured across the first (yellow) and third (green) terminals was actually 48.16K Ohm.

Checked again with the camcorder and there was no zoom creep. However, when reassembling the case and tucking the internal cable wires into place I broke the delicate soldered board connections for two of them (black and white). Fortunately I'd previously taken a photo of that side of the board showing the connections.

Guess I'll have to clue myself up on re-soldering board connections.
