GH1 Battery Grip

Hey guys I was just wondering something... since the battery door isn't removable on the G series, and there are NO grips provided for this thing...

Do you think the market for a battery grip would be good without a vertical shutter button?

I was thinking of designing a Grip that would hold a large cell battery (similar to the RC batteries used in the GH2 battery hack)

I was going to start with the GH1 battery adapter, wire it up to the grip battery, and design the casing to match the body lines of the G cams...

Sound feasable? Maybe someone with more resources can do better. I have no one that could make a plastic grip housing, I can only maybe design its look for a mold.

This would at least give longer battery life and a more "pro" look as a DSLR.

BUT this wouldn't solve the battery life indicator showing battery life or the fact that there would not be any shutter controls.

I just thought of something I could add a seperate wire to the remote input on the g cam and wire up a vertical shutter...

Quick photoshop of a chop design. Not gonna look exactly like this, shutter button will be designed to match. grip will follow the lines of the body more, and the grey boxes represent where the grip will extend to hide the wires for the shutter actuaction and power.

Sounds ambitious. I would rather drill a hole with the dremel, extend the wiring & make it completely powered from outside.

would like to see a review of this and how the cable is supposed to come out of the closed battery cover as stated.

You must not have a GH1, there is a rubber cover on the side of the cam that runs into the battery compartment. used for the ac adapter. thats how the cable easily runs into the battery compartment for this grip. its how i was gonna design my concept.
