T2i Battery grip question... Please help!

I had some ebay bucks to spend so I bought a battery grip for my T2i... unfortunately, seems that I bought the grip for the E5 batteries when I have the E8 batteries (really sick of the way the companies keep changing their battery design). :cry: Anyway...

It looks like there's just a notch at the front that keeps it from fitting properly, so can I just dremel off the notch at the front and make my E8 batteries fit in the battery grip or will I just have to suck up the loss and buy a new battery grip?

Has anyone done this?

I don't mean to be impatient, just I have a shoot tomorrow and I'd really like to be able to use this... but don't want to destroy, unnecessarily, it if I ultimately have to sell it.
 
Cant give you a definite answer because Im new to the SLR world, but are the batteries different voltages? The one thing I have heard is that if they arent the right voltage they could mess up the camera. Could be completely wrong, just something a couple people told me.

I would just buy a new grip if I were you.

And yes its all annoying how batteries and everything are different.
