Batteries

Hi everyone,

I'm about to order my af100 and I wonder which battery, and how many should I buy. I guess the Panasonic - VW-VBG6PPK is the one to get? I may sometime need to go a whole day without the ability to recharge, so 10-12 hours of "on" time is a must for me.

Thanks,
Eyal

I bought this Ebay cheapy:

It took a long time to get here but it does work just fine. It's bigger in size than the battery that came with the camera but shows a capacity of 3 hours fully charged vs 4+ hours for the factory panny battery.

FWIW when I owned a still wedding photography business I purchased dozens of generic Canon DSLR batteries and never had a single problem.

So the Ebay batteries are tempting and seem to work as well as the Panny batteries. I personally plan to buy one extra genuine Panasonic battery and probably one more Ebay battery. Likely I'll mostly use the cheap batteries as back ups or for the rare occasions where 8 hours of battery life isn't enough. In fact I may buy two more Ebay batteries. Hell for the money it never hurts to have a few extra batteries in your bag right?

Hope that helps.

bought 2 at ebay, one doesnt charge. seller is good enough to have it refunded or replaced though
so if your in a rush and need a battery, theres s possibility you could get a defective battery

Thanks everyone. Looks like it's 3 batteries for me. I guess I'll get 2 Panasonics, and 1 of those cheaper ones for safety.

Bought the Flashpoint off-brand from Adorama

$30, 5800 mAh

Haven't had time to do extensive testing, but it does indeed work on the AF100

This is what I got as well. I used two of them on a shoot last weekend with Ljung's AF100. He recommended them to me and after shooting with them I decided to buy one. They last a little less than the Panasonic one but at that price it's worth it, at least until a company like Swit comes out with one that has a port for powering other devices.
