Batman goes Nutzoid!

Neither one of us were there, so we don't know the whole story. And I'm sure there is QUITE an interesting story behind all of this.

I only can speculate and see it from the DP's point of view, as I am not an actor. If action is called but everything is not in place, what good is the take?

well, see... that right there, i think, speaks to the heart of the issue. all things being equal, what takes ptiority? a misplaced light, or a bad performance? I'm just trying to maybe see it from the point of view of the people you are there to help do their best, look their best, give their best -- the heart and soul of the film, the life of the film. not to diminish the value of a good DP, but really... completely blowing an imperfect take is not the DP's call. you know?

I would buy that argument if Bale was portraying the role of a baby. But he was playing the part of a grown man. He should act like one!

No, he's just playing the military leader of the human race locked in a death struggle with unstoppable killing machines. I can forgive him if he's not always in a cheery frame of mind.

Exactly. I've seen too many DP's pull passive aggressive sh*t, like bumping the tripod on purpose so the director doesn't use a certain take, to immediately take his side on this issue.

Why did the director let this shi* go on. I don't give a good goddamn who the "star" is...he ain't in charge. I just lost what little respect I had for McGee-Wiz or what ever the poo poo his name is. He needs to grow a pair.

Edit:
Why doesn't Bale go punch his mom or sister...you know relieve some tension the way he normally does.

I liked Bale alot in Rescue Dawn. Bale probably wouldn't have behaved that way on Herzog's set.

You actually had respect for McG? Did you not see Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle?...As for Bale he probably did punch his mom afterwards. This happened many months ago...What I'm wondering is how this was taped. It sounds pretty close on Bale so it must've been the boom or a lav, and the sound guy kept rolling. I'm guessing Bale is going apsh*t right now on the studio for letting this get out. Now I'd like to hear THOSE conversations!

If youve ever tried acting.... its 100X harder than you think it is. absolute concentration is key.

Distractions and constant delays, tire out the actors brain, while they hold the exact level of intensity the director gets from them. And they get cranky (bale).

Stupid things, sometimes blow up. Its happened on sets ive been on. I was yelled at by talent for nothing, but i know, they are in charachter, and if they suddenly become nice about some thing small that annoys them, it takes much more energy to get back to where they were.

Exactly what my wife asked when I was talking about this at dinner. And a damn good question at that. Is McG's voice in that recording?

Look, there's only one reasonable thing to do at this time: We need to make a shoebox diorama of the set and re-enact the scenario with action figures. You know, like George Costanza did in that episode of Seinfeld where he put the tape recorder in the briefcase under the table.
