Batman Begins (saw it)

kinda funny how this thread has a big thumbs down on it but i would say the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive on the film.

i know...that is my opinion

Coming from the same guy that praises Revenge of the Sith as the best movie this year..... :undecided

You know, seems like I've caught a lot of movies this year, and surprisingly a lot of them were great!

I really, really like WotW, same with Mr. and Mrs. Smith (not as good as WotW, obviously, but different kind of fun). But, for the life of me, I can't help but feel like BB has stuck with me the most. The visuals, the score, the actors....I don't know...It's nothing that I can put my finger on, but I just freakin' love this movie (some of the choppy action editing excluded). I'd have to say that I got the most satisfaction out of this movie than any other this year.

Batman for me? I have heard nothing but good things about it but I don't really do Comic Book Films (Give me the Graphic Novel). I'll wait for DVD for this film and then only for my 5 year old.

How old are you Kemper? (Just gauging)

Hey John

It's funny you should say that, because the director's vision of the movie doesn't feel like a comic book and could be more like a graphic novel.

It's a much more serious and intelligent interpretation and portrayal of Batman and to me the comic book feel/factor was extremely low (if non existant). It's way to good to be classed as another comic book movie

You're robbing yourself of a good movie experience and don't compare or expect it to be like the Spiderman and X-men movies.

I along with everyone else am interested to see what you think, Come on!... put us out of our missery.

John,
I have to agree with the rest of the boys / gals here. Go see it, it is nothing like the Comic book movies out there. And I'm not at all a comic book guy. I was very surprised. Do I dare say it, I even liked it better than W.O.T.W. I'm not sure you should take your 5 year old to this one. It is way to dark for a child.

yea, its no "Batman and Robin". But I can't help but think Mr. Hudson is pulling our legs some what. Trying to fire up the comicbook gurus perhaps?

I agree with Elvis this time, better than WOTW.

It is the best movie of the year...The drama was at a level Batman didn't come close to.

Drama and Sith?

I almost blew out my taint laughing at this.

Well....to each his own I guess...

i agree that this film was mediocre, Bale is a way boring actor.. has anyone seen the machinist? i cant even stand him in that. some visuals were cool.. the scarecrow was way cool... and was it just me or were they playing music in the background for 99% of the film?

I saw it a while back. I'm a kid at heart when it comes to batman movies, but maybe I'm getting to old for this as I enjoyed it only a little. I love the story of origins and thought the cinematography was great.

I thought liam neeson should have been a good guy all the way through. I didn't like seeing his character as some fundamentalist.

Also, it would have been better if those who trained him never appeared in Gotham. The whole story was ruined by having them want to destroy gotham.

Once he got to gotham, the story got cheesy, especially in the end. Maybe they were appealing to younger audiences and this is where i lost interest.

Poorly cast: bale isn't that bad but his voice as batman was annoying. I wouldn't say this is fault though, the director should have asked for something different.

The pretty woman was weak, and the villian who puts the bag over his head was kinda dum and over acted.

I liked freeman.

Wasn't thrilled about the train sequence at the end.

Finally saw it on DVD - DISAPPOINTMENT.

Someone should tell the parents of the kid that played young Bruce that THE BOY CAN'T ACT.

I think the story was quite engaging, but it had some serious disconnects (who murdered Bruce's parents?), and cheesy dialogue. If a movie is measured by how much it suspends the belief in what's possible - this one failed miserably. Anything to do with physics (the microwave weapon, the batmobile with its pathetic excuse for a flame, etc.) was so cheesy and unrealistic I don't even know where to start.

On the positive note, I thought Bale was pretty good for the role, and the cinematography was really nice. The bats were awesome. Katie's nipples distracted me from what she was saying at the end...

Too bad I found myself saying 'eeew!' so many times throughout the film. It was way better than my entry in the zombiefest, though! But I liked Batman with Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton much much more.

i just saw this over the weekend. i thought it was very good. i usualy dont like how they go about showing you a comic book character being created....but i liked the way they did it in this one. wasnt just the "my parents were killed and ive been tormented for years so now i going to kick some ass" i like that he went out to try and understand criminals so that he might better confront them.

i thought the martial arts stuff in the begining was a tad much...i get it, but some of the scenes were weird...i think im just over the kung fu thing...i liked the twist that happened, the guys teaching him these things were actualy out for no good. that was cool.

i think there was some nice moments that i think added to the character and made me buy into it more...him trying to have fun with the hot chicks and the car/water fountain...him sorta ****ing up the first time and hurting his arm...when alfred opens the blinds and wayne says "bats are nocturnal" and falls to the ground for some pushups...some cool little moments...

i liked morgan freemans character, a nice take on the gadget guy idea...

i think in general everyone was really good.

the costume was cool, i really liked that he was gathering this stuff up from different areas of his company, and it wasnt like him and alfred made this **** from scratch...i always thought it was bogus how batman always had some cool gadgets that would probly require some army of inventors/scientists.

sure the idea of a microwave gadget that could vaporize all water was a bit much, but whatever, it was still fun.

the only thing i wish was that i felt a little more danger for batmans life towards the end...or danger for the girl...something...it felt a little too easy.

i think in general i liked the take on the characters/ideas. 10x's better then the Joel Schumacher batmans. i still really like the Tim Burton batman.

i totaly dug the wierd effect that happened when people tripped out on the scarecrow dust...pretty nasty. when the scarecrow tripped out on batman, and batmans suit became organic/real was freaky/cool..i dig it.

That didn't bother me as much as the concept that this stuff is in the water supply, and has to be inhaled, but no one suffered from the effects until the microwave weapon. I guess people in Gotham don't take hot steamy showers.

All in all I really enjoyed Batman Begins. I'd say that it was on par with Burton's original. Both of them have downsides. Burton's is more visually impressive, but the cast (aside from Keaton and Nicholson) is horrible. Nolan's Batman is almost too gritty and realistic, but the cast is incredible. Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon is inspired.
