Batch Capture Problem

Okay well I've already posted this in SkatePerception (Another forum), but I didn't get help in there and was recommended to ask here. Well starting last night when I mark my ins and outs then go to batch capture fcp has been capturing sometimes a little before and sometimes a little video after the points I've set. It also would cut off parts of the clip I wanted and even sometimes it would capture a complete different area of the tape. I tried this morning on another tape and the same problem happened and seems to get worse every time I try to re-do the process. Can somebody please help me because this is a serious problem that I need fixed asap. Thanks

I'm using FCP 5.0.4 and Quicktime Pro 7.6.6 and my computer specifications are

There are time code breaks in the tape, but I'm capturing footage in-between the breaks. I'm using a Sony VX-1000 and I film skateboarding.

EDIT: What I'm doing is marking the in's and out's and then log the clip. It usually works then one day it stopped working.

Are you logging the clips or just selecting an In point and out point from the tape and clicking capture clip?

Are there time code breaks on the tape? What are your handle lengths set to...this is the extra second or two that fcp will capture so you can perform dissolves and not have jumpcuts.

First, and most helpful: which Mac, which OS, which version of Final Cut Studio?

Also, what camera/format did you shoot, and what frame rate? What are your capture settings?

As a shot in the dark (really dark, since we have no idea what you're actually working with), you can try trashing Final Cut's preferences. Go to User>Library>Preferences and look for a file titled com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist. Drag that file to the trash. Relaunch FCP.

As C2V has observed, you've given us virtually no information sufficient to provide a response.

Please give your full system specifications, what computer, what drives, what camera or deck, how everything's connected, what settings are on the media, what settings you're using in Final Cut, and finally what version of the software, of the OS, and of QuickTime you are using.

We can't see your set up from here, so you diligence in providing specifics is what is important.

This isn't a detailed answer but a sort of workaround...you can set preferences to just create a new clip upon a timecode break...do that and then capture the whole tape, then you'll have all the clips nicely separated.

To me the issue still seems timecode related, which is why I only asked that question. Rarely do mac software, hardware versions interfere with each other as they are updated constantly.

Final Cut Pro 5.0.4 is incompatible with Intel Macs.

The earliest version that is compatible is 5.1.4. You need to upgrade to FCS3.

I don't know if it will work perfectly, but I do not that that version of FCP is incompatible with your computer.
