Basic light kit for video

As I recall (you'd want to double check) some older Jokers use a harder to find and more expensive globe, like the kind with a built-in par reflector... vs. the bipin globes that are "just a globe"?

Adapting one of the "par" globe type lights to a bipin seems like a difficult proposition, since you would have a much bigger opening where some amount of reflector should be (and the reflectors built into globes are a big part of the bulb's efficiency and beam pattern).

There have been a lot of older HMIs that use reflector bulbs and double-ended bulbs, so it's something to research on older units. You'd hate to get a unit that needs a $300 globe that's impossible to source...

Thanks for the advice all. I ended up with 3 fresnels and a cheap 4 bank of flos. I would love to get some 3200k bulbs for the fluorescents though. Any recommendations? I am guessing I could put the Kino bulbs in there, but not sure.

I have basically the same kit me too...3 fresnels and 2 kino flo divas. I have 3200 kino bulbs, but I find that there are not accurate color wise...too much pink(even at full power). The 55k are great though.

Edit: kinoflo says that there is a 100 hour burn time to get the most out of there tubes. I did not reach that yet. Maybe the 32k will be more accurate after that...
