Base Plates; AF100 is not Arri Standard...

On my day with the AF100 I discovered that the AF100 lens height from the bottom is much lower than Arri standard, so you'll need some sort of riser block to bring it up to use 15MM or 19MM rods with the wider spacing.

I'll need something to be able to use my big Cooke zoom and it's support on the wider spaced rods. Not trying to put it on the Mini spacing.

Luckily, I had bought a Zacuto outfit for my 5D (some to be in the dust-bin of camera history) and at the highest adjustment it worked perfectly for my Arri Follow Focus and Chrozeil Matte Box.

We used the Zacuto Mini plate, but it does not have a 3/8" hole, nor does their larger Universal Plate; I have to have a chat with them, as I don't trust a single 1/4" bolt, not even two of them.

Zacuto stuff, by the way, is absolutely first rate in every way. And beautiful to behold.

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

Glad to hear that the Zacuto plate has enough height adjustment. I was thinking about getting a second slider plate and drilling it out for a 3/8" bolt. Are the two bolt holes in line with each other on the camera?

They are.

Just spoke with Elma at Zacuto. They do have a 3/8" t-slide plate that will work. Part number ZR004.

Thank you, Stephen, for doing the research on this!

We have one of the AF-100s here on the "Verse" short on a Zacuto normal plate and it is working well with the FF and mattebox.

..And another on RedRock rails, with a Manfrotto Quick-Release plate directly under the camera; and it's working well - Not to mention super super handy for swappingout bodies between setups, extra slide adjustability (handy on Steadicam!), and the like.
