C300: base plate?

The first is no good for shoulder-based shooting, do you plan on shooting shoulder mounted? The second is okay, I have some Tilta stuff but the Zacuto VCT Pro is the best on the market but more expensive then either of these. Perosnally, I think the Zacuto will be good for almost any camera on the market so if you are freelancer and need to shoot with different cameras, the VCT Pro is a great investment. I have ran C300 MKII, my C200, RED Weapon and Sony FS7 on mine so far.

Used to use dovetails (I had exactly the first link New_Zealand referred to), but I find the VCT system to be vastly superior.

Thus I switched over, first getting the 2nd link New_Zealand mentioned! As funny coincidences go.

But now I use this one as my favorite:

I reckon it is the best I've ever had. Was a real life saver on a shoot last month! As had the heavy weight of a RED ONE on my shoulder all day.

That's a steal for $249.00! 90% of the goodness of the Zacuto VCT Pro at less than half the price. SmallRig makes some really good stuff at an excellent value. Chinese versus made in America but for a lot of stuff, Chinese works fine.

I can't remember exactly what I paid, but I am pretty sure I paid even less! Because I pre-ordered it before they started manufacturing.

Was a total no brainer decision for me to buy as it was so cheap.

I feel like the Smallrig stuff is a no brainer. Everything I have is very good quality and cheaper than the competition.

If you aren't regularly going shoulder mount, you might try to find a used zacuto gorilla plate for the c300 or the smallrig equivalent. The height and size of the C300 does not match well with a generic baseplate that is not matched to it.

If you don't shoot shoulder mounted at all, then simpler baseplate could be more convenient and also lighter + smaller. Just a plain baseplate like this Vocas one that is custom fitted for the C300 & C300II. This one is also LWS system standard compliant for proper LWS rail height. If you want to add shoulder pad to it just use longer rails and pad that connects to the rails after camera & baseplate. So this way its quite versatile setup for many different
shooting scenarios.

You should find good deals with this online in sub 200 euro / dollars category.

I have a Zacuto Universal I'll sell you cheap. It's been sitting here collecting dust since I got it (I already have the VCT Pro).
