Well, Beach isn't an authorized dealer, and believe it or not, there are some gray marketers that are buying Magic Bullet Editors from other sources and packaging it together so that you THINK you've got a US unit, when in fact you have a gray-market unit.

Not saying that's what happened to you. It may be, it may not be. It could be that Beach bought old stock from an authorized dealer before the book bundling deal started.

You might want to contact Jan Crittenden of Panasonic and let her know your serial number, she can verify whether you have a US unit or not. If it's a legit US unit, Beach owes you a copy of the book/dvd.

i'm from Italy and i've bought your book few days ago (paying with paypal from the link found at http://www.dvxuser.com/articles/dvxbook), and i was just wondering if i have to wait for a confirmation e-mail or something like that in order to know that my order has been "processed" and the item is shipping...

I have two DVX's I got from Buydig.com, which is Beach Camera from what I can discover. I also got the online form for the rebate from them, but now I wonder if I'll get it. I sent in both of my Ser# to Panasonic when I sent in the rebate form, I guess I'll find out if they are gray market soon enough. I got your book and DVD in the second one as well as a second copy of Magic Bullet. (Great DVD and book, thanks for doing them!) I wish I'd known that there may be problems with them, I would have paid a bit more from EVS in that case. I did order two AG-LA7200G's from EVS yesterday after reading your book on getting the best 16:9 results.

If you got the book in the package, you *almost* unquestionably have a legitimate US warranty unit there. I can't think of how the gray marketers could get ahold of the book/dvd, I haven't made any bulk sales to any gray market resellers, so I'm pretty certain that that particular unit would be legit US. It's possible the other one is as well, and was just from stock that predated the book bundling deal. Good luck, hope it all turns out well!

Thanks Barry, I feel a little better now. I bought the first DVX in January before the rebate deal was announced. I just registered the two on line at the Panasonic site, so if there is a problem with the Ser# I should know soon enough. I'm waiting to get the two AG-LA7200G's before I do much work with these cameras, as I don't want to have to unlearn/relearn how to use them after I get the Anamorphic 16:9 lens's on them. Your DVD really showed the difference between the AG equipped DVX and squeeze mode 16:9, and as I want to get the best resolution I can for my film project it made sense to go that direction now that I have a little financing to work with. (I borrowed money from my retirement fund, so I'll be paying myself back all principal and interest instead of someone else.) I also liked some of your tips on how to cheat a bit on how to focus with this lens, such as your conversion chart with auto focus and Neil's eye and "X" focus tips as well as the Adam Wilt aperture settings. Great book, I hope I can get the results I need after reading it. I even have an idea for my first project before I try to film the movie. I'm going to do a DVD from a novice point of view on how to put all of the info I've learned here and elsewhere on using the DVX with the AG lens to practical use. As I have two DVX's I can use one as a model and the other to shoot the video with. If I can do a good job with that, it'll go a long way to getting me ready to shoot my film.

Book in the custody of the Austrian custom...Not enough papers clarifying its custom status.
Hope to solve this bureaucracy problem fast (I was presenting the e-mail invoice,now it is up to them)...and be able to enjoy the book/dvd soon.

Unbelievable! The book and DVD arrived today! Now that was fast! Started reading the book a few minutes ago. It looks great so far. I'm sure that this will exceed what I was hoping for.
 
I don't get it....do dvxuser.com members get a discount on the dvx book/dvd? Because I see your selling it on ebay for the same price and cheaper......
 
Everywhere sells it at the same price. On ebay it's a dollar less just so if someone bids, it won't end the auction early. Amazon, ebay, here, at Abel Cine, everywhere it's the same.
 
are these sales conducted by DVX or individuals - because i am just wandering if there any chances u could get the book and batteries shipped together? or are they shipped from individuals?
