Barry,

Looking forward to receiving your book/DVD.

I know people were making suggestions to you for things to include in your next book/DVD combo, and I'd like to make a request:

I'd love to see the next release include cinematographic details for different shot setups. For instance, show an example of a great looking interview shot, then go into detail about lighting, camera setup, and any other details that went into making the shot look so good. Exploring several different shooting situations with examples of how it's done right would take us all so far...I (and I'm sure everyone) would love it!

For FCP, I've heard so many people frustrated with trying to use 24P in FCP... but someone here (Loki I think?) said that they've never had a problem doing so.  So be sure to ask Loki, or Noah Kadner, or someone else exactly how to cut 24P in FCP, because I think there must be a documentation error or something going on... something to explain why there are so many people keep asking questions about it. I know that FCP can handle it perfectly capably, because some people are doing exactly that, so there just must be a certain procedure you need to follow.

Maybe we can get these guys to write a tutorial and leave it as a "sticky" thread in the FCP forum here...

Or, possibly the issues FCP has with 24p have workarounds which don't seem like "problems" to some of the people using it. A tutorial sticky would be great.

How quick do these books ship out. I just ordered it but Im leaving next tues on a trip, would be nice to have it before then.
I guess that means by saturday since monday is a holiday.
Is that possible?

They go out same-day or next-day, depending on when I receive your order. Usually if I'm not working a job that day, I'll gather up the orders and take 'em to the post office by 4:00. If I'm working a job that day, then the ones ordered through the prior night will get dropped off in the morning before the job starts. So usually within 24 hours. If you are in southern California, they've been getting there within a couple of days, so Saturday would likely (likely, mind you) be well within reason.

just to let any international purchasers know, the book arrived on the 14th Feb - a mere week after you sent it. Very impressive!

Sorry, we ran out of cowbell at the last minute. I think at the time, someone said they had a fever, and the only cure was more cowbell, so we had to use it on them...

Great stuff as usual Barry! The fact that Pansonic thinks so highly of it to include one with all the currently shipping camera's is a true testament to the wealth of information contained within. Almost no point in shipping a "user's manual" ;)

Our clients are far more concerned that the camera's they are purchasing contain Barry's book than Magic Bullet! Keep up the good work Barry!

Abel Cine is a first-rate dealer, and they also stock the book/DVD combo, so if someone wants to pick up a copy (rather than waiting for it to be shipped), Abel Cine is the place to go, both in NY and in LA.

Barry, a friend of mine tried to order the book and dvd today.  Said it wouldn't accept his BofA credit card or that sometimes the order page closed before he had a chance to fill it out.

So if I try it with my card can you send it to him direct.

I don't know what wasn't working... he can get it from Amazon, perhaps his card would work there? If not, no problem, just fill in the proper shipping address on the Paypal form, and make a notation that I'm supposed to send it to that address and it should all work out...

Hi,

I just received my dvx yesterday (smooth) and it was supposed to come with this book and dvd, yet when it arrived via fedex... no book, no dvd. Do I have to contact panasonic for these, does anyone know?

where did you buy it from? was it an authorized dealer. if not you were likely just lied to and sold a grey market camera.

Depends on where you ordered it from. If from a gray market dealer, it won't include the book/dvd. If it's from an authorized dealer, contact them, they should have some stock and be able to send you one.

I bought it from Beach Camera and it is definitely US warranty, it came with the magic bullet software as promised... I will call them tomrrow and see. Thanks!
