Canadian orders seem to take like 8 to 12 days, even though they're sent air mail! I think they must be getting held up in customs. I sent it via air mail, yours would have gone out on the 8th, so it really should be there any day...
Just got a DVX and I'm looking to get the book asap. I don't use Paypal but I do work for Bank of Ireland so is there any chance I could sent the money directly to an account? If I could, just email me the details (Account No, Sorting Code, Swift/BIC address, Bank name and address, etc). If not, I'll think of another way...
Hi Barry, sorry to bug you again but the book still hasn't arrived. I emailed the address from my paypal receipt and let them know it has not arrived. You said 8 to 12 days. I oredered on line on the 7th so it has been three weeks. Could you check for me and see if it was sent out. Thanks....
Hey Barry, I wanted to know if you have the book at any stores in the LA area. I'm actually in Torrance, CA and was interested in purchasing it. I was hoping to pick it up to read it over the weekend. Also, do you have a sample page online so we can see your teaching style? Thanks in advance for the help and I hope to get the book soon.
It'll be available at Abel Cine Tech in New York any day now. As for Los Angeles, check with Rush at evsonline.com, they may have a copy they can hook you up with.
Thanks for all the help, you guys at EVS are great... I got my camera with Ryan from your shop and he was of great help. I will definitely keep shopping with you guys and always recommend you guys.... For some crazy reason I decided at the last minute that I wanted to get the book to read over the weekend.
I can send it by express mail or by fedex, your choice. Make your order and request express shipping. Then, separately, paypal $10 for USPS express mail, or $15 for fedex, to paypal -- at -- fiftv -- dot -- com, indicating that it is to cover the rush fee. I'll send the order the same day I receive it.
The book just arrived Barry. I plugged in the dvd and then started reading the book. I'm really enjoying it. I really like the explanation for getting depth of field shots. I took the camera, set it up as you suggested, and...voila....it works. Thanks again....
Anyway, gone through it all (amazed at how fast it got here) and it is simple very well done. Wonderful production values. Very good DVD. A tad obvious about pushing a DVX sale (just the gut reaction I had in specific parts), but, factual and the examples show how to actually do what is being talked about. Very, very well done! The book is great. I'm really begining to understand why what I do does what it does. Not to mention I'm now ready to get into more advanced features to control my pictures and movements. The DVD could have had some more guided "how-to". But all in all, really very nice, bravo, ya did good, kid!
I really am loving it! The main menu background loop is so freakin' cool! I'd have used more original music (I'm a composer, I'm overly picky, forgive me) and less canned sounding music. Like stuff from OUToTUNE or something. But, that's just me. Doesn't effect the technical content at all. Great DVD!
I do have two questions: 1- Was it all shot on a DVX camera? 2- What NLE was it edited on?
Yes, every frame was shot on a DVX, except for the obvious scenes like the JVC HD1 footage and the 16mm film footage... other than that, it's all DVX, all the time. And all post production was done in Sony Vegas 5.0.
Unfortunately I didn´t have the time to order the book while I was in England. So, now I am in Angola and the banks here aren´t online yet, and paypal don´t work with them. So, I still want to order it from here, but I was wondering if there is another way of ordering it other than via paypal.
And Fedex here sucks, I once sent something to my brother and he didn´t receive them all. Fedex said that it had to do with customs, but it hadn´t, because we don´t have Fedex in Angola and they sent through another company.
Anyhow, the best company is DHL, which we have all over the country.
You can try ordering it direct from Abel Cine Tech. They should have a lot more flexible payment options than I do (I'm pretty much limited to paypal or money order, or Western Union). Abel Cine carries the book now, you can order from www.abelcine.com. I'll update as other dealers come on line, but right now this means that those who want to use a conventional credit card should be able to get it from Abel Cine right away.
I could do it via western union. But the safest way would be to send it via DHL, cause over here they are real speedy gonzales. Everything goes missing without you realising it.
Could you send me some price quotes?
Thanks in advance
Fidel.
PS: The only problem with online shoping over here is that we don´t yet have credit cards yet. The country was in war for nearly 30 years, and they are just starting all this stuff.
