Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Received my book today. :)

Many thanks Barry for an awesome guide! 8)

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Barry got such great reviews I ordered the book! I just purchased the DVX100A so I'm looking forward to reading the book and doing my first shoot in 24p. I was looking at the XL2 but all the articles I read rated the DVX100A as the best buy. I have an XL1s that I want to use it as a second camera. In particular if I want to shoot in widescreen I assume that I can use both cameras. Anybody out there who has done this? If so what settings would you recommend for both cameras.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Got the book the other day. Great info, the DVD is awesome! Everyone who owns a DVX100/A will be better off with this book. Again, thanks Barry!

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Hiya, Barry I've just placed my order just now, and will be looking forward to it. It's a very late christmas present to myself hehe. ..... I can't wait!!!

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

just thought id add to this plethora of responses. The book was great! im glad to see that Panasonic is shipping a free copy of the book with its camera now.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

I want to add to the chorus here. I'm sure Barry long ago gave up on trying to follow this thread just because of sheer volume, but I want to let you know in the off chance you still are looking here that I just ordered the book/DVD and am looking forward to it very much.

I met you at EVS in Glendale when I was in there asking about the DVX. I didn't know much about it and I was grilling Tommy for answers when he suggested I talk to a guy standing "over there". You proceeded to answer every question for me and with so much enthusiasm. It was like an hour later when we were done, and my lunch break was long over. You said get the camera, read the manual THEN get your book. The next day I picked up the camera and have been a happy shooter since. Thanks.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Brilliant book Barry, I've just re-read it; superb and full of vital info.

I've got two fairly random questions:

1. What software did you use to encode the DVD with? - A very professional job, I thought!

2. (Don't ask) What FONT did you use for the book? I know it sounds daft, but I've been after a font that looks like a 'book-font' if you know what I mean...!

Cheers mate!

All post was done using Sony Vegas software, and all DVD authoring was done using Sony DVD Architect 2.

It was just Times New Roman, 12 point...

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

For some reason they seem to get held up in customs in Canada. Some customers have reported 12 days for delivery, even though they're sent out next day via air mail (which should theoretically take only 4 days or so to get to Canada). It went out on the 6th, so it'll get there...

Is it downloadable?

Is it downloadable?

I just bought my copy and am confused - do I now wait for it to be mailed? There was an option I checked that said I would download the DVX version and the book, but now I don't know where to do that? PLEASE HELP!

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Hi Barry,

I noticed in the book there was no ISBN number?

Have you thought about selling the book and DVD in more traditional areas like Amazon?

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

There's no download option, it's a physical book and DVD, and usually gets mailed out within 24 hours.

I just got my ISBN number a week ago, it'll go on the back of the retail package...
