Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

:D haha It smells like death...that's funny...

It's heat shrink plastic that they coat them in...to protect the dvd's when shipped. Right Barry?

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

No, actually I killed something and spread the scent around, so they all smell like "death"...

No, seriously... I have no idea. Here, hold on, let me go smell one...

Okay, I just did. It just smells like plastic to me, which (of course) it is. I just took 'em straight out of the box they came in and stuffed 'em in the envelopes (actually my exceptionally patient wife did that) so there shouldn't be anything unusual about 'em...

Thanks for all the great comments, and sorry 'bout missing the signature Phil. I tried to fill all the signature requests, but there were so many to ship out and I'm afraid a few didn't get met... :-[

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

I think the smell was just the plastic shrink wrap as someone suggested.

However, please don't let my comments about the smell deter anyone. The DVD (which I just finished watching) is awesome!

Thanks again Barry,

Chris

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Barry,

I just watched the DVD. This production is the best I've seen in this genre. Very professional and a great choice of hosts.

Congratulations on such a great product.

sorry 'bout missing the signature Phil.

Thanks again Barry!

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Hi Barry-

Thanks, got it yesterday. It is lovely and the book paper smells like all those freakin' standardized tests from grade school.

I will check it out a little everyday.

Where do we - can we ask questions? I will probably just save them up for now.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Recieved the book and I must say it's great :)

I particuarily like the DVD. Just wish you had more mini35 footage! :D

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Barry,

I got the package yesterday and am very pleased with it. I watched the whole DVD last night and already learned a few new things. Like shooting up close and getting the unfocused background. Awesome tip!

I'll be starting the book tonight and will be spending some much needed quality time with the camera!

And just when you thought the spending was over with, you guys offer the new 5-hour battery. Guess I better get my wallet out again ;D

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

I've just received the book + DVD. Thanks and congratulations for the work. ;)

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Barry,
great job on the book and DVD. Thanks for clearing up and making the techno babble understandable. I really appreciate it! I've learned something new everyday about this camera and film making.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

What is it with people sniffing the book and the dvd? As a safety warning, don't try sniffing the mailman, it could be get you arrested.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Excellent Book and DVD!!! Very informative!! Pretty fast delivery considering when the items were finished, Vet Day, etc. Was the anamorphic guide supposed to come w/this? For some reason I thought it was getting thrown in. If there was one thing missing, I wanted to see(on the dvd) how to handle focusing using the anamorphic lense w/the guide. Still a purchase nonetheless!! I agree with the person who wrote in an earlier post that these items should come with a DVX instead of Magic Peashooter(Bullet? Yeah right!!) 8)

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Sugahsean469: The anamorphic guide is pages 120-147 (I bought the guide before too).

Barry: Good job. Like others have said, the DVX should come with your book and DVD [Are there any Panny reps out there reading this?]. I'll be recommending your book and DVD to a couple other DVXers I know. Thanks.

Oops, I have only read a couple pages so far. Will read the whole book after work today! Thanx dude!

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

barry, you should contact b&h about selling your book/dvd

i have a friend who makes telescope accessories and we stopped in b&h while going to the dv show and it only took him an hour (without an appointment!) to talk to someone and all he had to do was get a upc code.

and of course i'm sure rush would make it even easier to sell it through him!

Barry,

......Christmas has come early......I thought for a moment earlier I heard sleigh bells.........I opened the door and there sat a package with my name on it.........Just what I asked Santa for..........

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Barry and everyone who helped create the book:

I just received my copy of the book and DVD. Thank you!!! :)

Peace,

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

You guys are great. Thanks for all the reviews and I'm glad you're all enjoying it.

As for Rush and EVS and B&H: I'd already talked to Rush about it, I just have to get some shrinkwrap and a UPC thing worked out, then I'll send 'em a few copies to see how they do. If they like it and it works, I'll talk to B&H as well.

Thanks again!
