C100: Banding issues in footage please help

I had three 8bits cameras and there was no problem with banding, with their cine1 gamma. C100 has sometimes problem with banding (with both wdr and log gamma) but cine1 gamma solves this. It is my way to solve this limit in case of flat sky or sunset.

Thanks, will put this to the test

You are wrong, sorry :) .

The Cine1 vs wdr and log gamma is a well known issue, differences are clear visible - try to test this. The C300 and C100 are a very good example, put XF100 to the same scene (with cine1) and at the side to side comparison you will see banding vs. no banding at the same scene.

It is really a very easy to repeat this.

Of course, the picture profile can have a huge impact on banding.

A profile going for maximum dynamic range will be much more sensitive to banding (fewer discrete light values per stop of light), than a profile that's crushing the picture more.

But Canon Log handles this very well, generally. It has, at least to me, a very pleasing and natural look, without being unnecessary flat. It was designed from the beginning to work in 8 bit.

Yes, I had banding problem only on several shots last year, C100 is a very good camera for me.
