Balance issues

What ideas have some of you invented to deal with the balance issue of the XL2?

The center seems to be somewhere near where you face contacts the L side of the camera.

I know this is a known problem for the Glidecam, as well as many rip-offs I tried to build.

I put a small 1 pound ankle weight from wal-mart on the back accesory plate and the center of balance is great. However this is not ideal for glidecam or stedicam type system as you want to decrease weight. BUt for hand held and shoulder mount it works out great.

Some friends and myself perfer to move the evf all the way forward then ignore the shoulder pad and put the body as far back on your shoulder as possible. On the old XL1 there was an accessory called the system isolator, made by lightwave, a company that specializes in Mic accessory's that allowed the evf to be moved 2.5 in. forward. It's nice that Canon Incorporated this solution into the new camera

I've added the Anton Bauer Dionic90 battery pack to the back of the camera. Not only does it really help to balance the camera, I can shoot for over 8 hours on one battery.
