FS7: Bag suggestion

I received the Tamrac expedition 9 and I can confirm that the camera, with the selp 18200 lens, a sennheiser g2 on top, a shotgun mike, and the viewfinder and the handle, all attached, fits perfectly.

I'm still looking for a slightly larger case that will fit a few other accessories like the baseplate, QR shoulder pad and a few extra lenses. Until then, I'm using the Porta Brace bag for the main parts and a Peliican 1550 for the rest and just keep both cases close by.

My Kata OMB 74 now has my fully assembled FS7 with baseplate and 15mm rails (either on its own or with extension unit) with grip in the upright position, loupe, batteries, charger, mattebox, Sony wireless lav mic kit, filters, and depending on the gig there's also room for a follow focus and the Odyssey 7Q bag I use.

As I can't find a Kata Trolley anywhere I bought an Ikea trolley an carabiner strap it to that.

That's good to know - it could be the one for me.

Do you think you'd be able to fit a couple more lenses and a few v-lock batteries? And any chance you could send a photo of your kit in the bag?

Room for a Canon 100-400 in there, too, Ben?

I'm just heading back on a train from London, sans assistant, and wheeling 2 bags and a Miller Solo through various tube trains ain't fun. One bag to take a similarly set up FS7 plus spare V Lock batt and long lens would help at times like this. Care to post a pic, to give me an idea?

Cheers,

Ben.

Possibly, if you don't have the 7Q in there and you stuck it in one of those lens pouch thingies. I tend to leave it with a Contax 28-85 on the lens which is a not inconsiderable sized lens, although it pales in comparison :)

I use a Carbon Miller Air for light setups (sans extension/v mount/7Q) as the whole thing is light as anything - 2.9Kg if I recall correctly. And I feel your pain about train/tube journeys. I have been revising my one man band setup for ages. F&V LED ringlights or cheap imitation Icelights plus reversible tiny lightstands and I think I have the tiniest footprint for a full shooting kit ever these days.

It's actually being used on a production without me this week but I'll take some shots next week if that is okay?

Hello,

I don't have a V-lock battery to test but there is still quite plenty of room.

So sorry it's taken so long for me to get around to taking some pics of the FS7 in my Kata OMB-74, and apologies for crappy quality.

The Orca OR-14 is still in the works, but it will be able to handle the FS7.

This model won't be available until May. Until then, the OR-24 backpack and the OR-12 camera bag are the largest bags available if you're interested in Orca Bags.

Any update on the Orca OR-14 bag? I really like the look of it for the FS7, but it's already July and it doesn't appear to be shipping yet.

Im using the ORCA-OR12, and its pretty good. Fits the FS7 perfectly for me (however, I don't use the giant Sony viewfinder, as I have switched that out for the SmallHD 502 + Sidefinder combo) - which still fits perfectly.

Since I have borderline OCD I don't like cluttering my bag haha, so For my I can fit a microphone, two lenses and some other small accessories into the bag without a problem. But, if you are ok with putting things on top of one another, I'm sure you can fir much more in the bag. I am carrying all my chargers and batteries in a separate messenger bag atm.

Thanks 1027, I'm going with the OR-12, it sounds like a good fit. (pun intended).

Orca has a small accessories pouch they sell as well to hold small stuff like wireless audio, memory cards, etc.

David- yup, I don't know if B&H still has he offer, but when I purchased the bag a few weeks back, the messanger bag was a free included item. Hopefully it is still offered for your purchase!

Porta Brace RIG-FS7XT

Not flying of course - just put on magliner with the rest of the gear pull out and put on VCT plate.

Ready to shoot config with Zacuto VCT Universal baseplate. Canon 24-70 2.8 & 70-200 2.8 via Speedbooster Ultra.

Any constructive input appreciated.

Ben, I see in the picture that you have some little quick-releases that look like the Photography & Cinema QR Mini, how do you like it? I have the 16x9 CineLock, and they are nice but they are twice the price of the P&C ones. I'm wondering if they are cross compatible...
