Backordered into the summer

Yes, this is my first post. I hoped this would have been, here's what I shot today around town, but that's currently impossible.

I am officially bummed out. HVX200's are right now backordered. Apparently, Panasonic does "just-in-time" inventory.

I ordered mine from Full Compass on June 1st, but they currently have none in stock. The estimate is for it to arrive around the end of July/beginning of August. I'm very tempted to try and cancel my order if I can find a place that has one available. Anyone know of a good place that has some in stock?
 
I don't think it is a case of just in time inventory as much as it was some unforseen natural events in Japan which disrupted production.

They do have the camera in stock, but the P2 cards are unavailable. Anyone know where I can get an 8GB P2 card? If I can get this lined up, I'll order from Spec right away.
 
We certainly appreciate your business Brian. nsoltz is correct that there was an earthquake in Japan which effected the availability of both the HVX200 and the DVX100's.

As for P2 cards, that's just a matter of demand being through the roof, and production doing their best to keep up. At this point, I'm not sure when cards will be available because they are all selling to customers before arriving to our facility.
 
I picked one up from spec-comm today. I did not ask how many they had left. All I needed was the one, so I am happy. Now I just need some P2 cards!
 
I hate to be the one to recommend this.... but Ebay has a couple of 8gigers going around 500-550.

I would thoroughly check out the seller, but it's an option none the less.

Other than that.... just keep calling around or get on a list.

BTW: Japan had an earthquake? It was prob just N Korea shooting off thier hobby rockets. :-P
 
Fun Update:
I should have a tracking number from Studio Exchange in about 2 1/2 hours. They have 8GB P2 cards in stock, but I believe they give preference to people who buy cameras with the memory. This is of course due to the current shortage. You can still try. I ordered through Paul and finalized it after the weekend.

Any way, I was tired of waiting and got overnight shipping. Should have it tomorrow afternoon. :p
 
Ya, I found a dealer that has both the cards and the camera in stock. They are not advertising the cards because of the shortage.
They told me if I wanted a card, Id have to buy the camera from them as well.

Just waiting for the money to get here so I can do it.
 
Yeah, I had to expand my credit limit because it takes a few days to remove the credit for the Full Compass order. Hence the delay in ordering over the weekend.
