Backing up files

Which P2 files do people recommend you back up?

Is it the P2 content files or the QT movie files in the Capture Scratch folder after you do an import?

I have been backing up both on an external hard drive and burning Double Layer DVD's.

Is it necessary to do both?

The MXF files are your digital negative. You can always recreate the QT file from the MXF files, but not the other way around.

If you want to economize, I'd toss the QT files.
 
not to mention the P2 volumes have the metadata whereas the QTs alone do not.

be sure to maintain the whole P2 folder structure, not just the MXF files!
