C300: Bachman Wilson House - Capturing a Frank Lloyd Wright House

That is one of Wright's Eusonian houses. There is a similar one in the neighborhood I grew up in. I used to mow the lawn for the owners as a kid. They were site specific designs, seems a travesty to move it. Virtually all the furniture is handcrafted and built in and they are heated by hot water circulated in pipes under the floor tiles in the concrete slab. Not exactly like moving a modular home.

Nice video. Definitely captures the spirit of the place.

Thanks. Yes, it is one of his Usonian homes. Unfortunately, there was no choice but to move it. It has flooded repeatedly in recent years. I think during hurricanes Sandy and Irene there was a few feet of water in it. In the past few weeks it would have flooded again.

So, while it's unfortunate to move it, it will save it and it is going to a museum where the public will have access to it.

Here is some info from the FLW Building Conservancy.

Nice work, its great to have such a record of the house in its original location. Can I ask what sort of dolly or slider was used?

Thanks.

The slider was a Kessler Stealth Traveler (~28"). I also used a Kessler Pocket Jib Traveler on one of the inside shots.
