Does B&H Photo give out discounts to registered dvxuser.com members? I know that evsonline.com used to do this.

Also, does anyone know when the Nikon D300 will be released?

I have to say, I was a longtime B&H customer who will now no longer shop with them. My spouse bought me a gift certificate there several years ago for $200. It was on paper with no expiration date. They have since switched over to another format, I think cards. Anyway, I called B&H when I was buying some items from them before I went to Africa earlier this year, told them about it, and they said I could use it. However, they said they would not accept a fax of it, they needed me to mail the certificate in. I needed the accessories then and couldn't delay my order.

So they said I could buy my purchases with a credit card, then mail in my certificate and get the refund credited to my card for the portion of the gift certificate.

I did that and went to Africa. After I returned and got caught up on paperwork months later, I noticed they never issued the credit. I called them and talked it over with them and they claimed they never received it. I explained I had copies of everything and they said send that in and someone would take care of it.

I did and never got a call, never got the amount credited to my card on file.

I believe in California that it is illegal to not honor a gift certificate or card, but have no idea about NY. And of course, as I guess they hoped, I am tired of chasing them down for the money they owe me.

But I have no stomach for purchasing anything from them ever again. This is not good customer relations in my book.
 
Yeah, there was a critical thread about B&H here not long ago, and it get removed by the mods here. Why, I have no idea, since it's not like B&H give any special discounts to dvx users. Maybe they are advertisers here or there's some other connection, but I never tried to chase that down /shrug. I was a bit po'd, because I wrote a post there and now it's gone, and there was nothing untoward going on there, so it was pure censorship. Then again, it's a private site so it's 100% within their rights, and I'm cool with that /so don't be surprised if this thread disappears mysteriously :) /

Personally, I can't stand B&H - overpriced in my experience... which is fine, if their customers service were unimpeachable. But it's not. So, boo on them.
 
The B&H thread in question went very quickly off topic in a bad way, and thus was deleted.

Honest reviews and experiences with any product or company is always welcome here on 'user. They are very much encouraged.

However we of course won't tolorate mindless (unfounded) mudslinging, and when that happens, it goes away.

I have had good experience with B&H over the years; they frequently have the lowest price I can find for a given item, and so far I haven't had trouble with their service.

Although it's possible that I have just been lucky.

I'm all up for killing the environment if it means my stuff gets here safely. :thumbup:

So far I've ordered twice from B&H. They've shipped everything quickly and completely, and they're one of the few decently priced places that ship to Canada. So I'm happy with them.

By the way, anyone know why Canadian prices are so ridiculous? $4500 for an XH-A1 at Vistek. On what planet is that reasonable?

Dude, we have been lamenting the prices forever...even when the dollar was weaker, it was cheaper in the US to buy just about everything.

What is the duty and tax like when you order from B&H...there must be some fees when bringing expensive stuff over the border. I need to make some purchases soon, and I'd rather not pay Vistek so much....
