B & H mess up

Ban Me Please!
Not that it's really that important, but I received the new B & H catalog and they seem to think that the camera is HDV. In both the front inside cover and the large, main ad on page 176 they show it as HDV even though you can clearly see (at least on the big ad) the HD logo.

I'm sure Panasonic won't be happy, but I know these things happen. I would think that most people buying this aren't going to stumble upon it by accident and will no better.

Anyway, just thought I'd share the mistake.

That's funny. I was just looking at the catalog and saw that. After all panasonic goes through to seperate themselves from HDV, and trying to educate HD newcomers. ;()

No doubt the HDV consortium (Sony, et al.) will get a kick out of it.:)

B&H are the best as far as I am concerned. i can place an order on the Friday and receive it in the UK on the Monday. superb service every time I have used them.

I also understand why they have done this. Joe bloggs now knows what HD is. Advertise the camera as anything other than HD and Joe Bloggs will be lost. At least he will now know that the HVX200 is a high def camera.

A fair number of vendors do provide "superb service". B & H are one of them. Nothing more, nothing less. And it all goes to show that even the good ones sometimes make major blunders...

I've never had anything, but great service from B & H and my original post was more just a tidbit to giggle about. (did I just use the word giggle in public?) Furhtermore, if I don't start posting more I'm never going to make 10,000 like Barry :)

I've had great service over the years from B&H, but I recently ordered an HVX from EVS (Rush) and I am extremely happy with EVS's professional attitude, promptness in answering my inquiry, and customer service ethic. For my money, I never plan to use anyone other than EVS or B&H.

Yes, I also noticed this. I still love B&H. The new catalog is like one giant Christmas list. Gotta show EVS some love as well (they wouldn't make this mistake).

When I see errors like that I always get amazed that people have jobs that pay money for them to to make mistakes.

Weird.

You guys think this is bad? My wifes Sunglass Catalog went out over the summer and the final print had a typo. What was suppossed to say Good as in 'I look good' said 'Gook' (a derogative term for asians especailly suring the Vietnam War)

These catalogs went out everywhere.

Disclaimer - I am only repeating what happended. Let's not all panic.

There was a funny story some years ago where Yasmine Bleeth (Rrrrrrrr!!--If I knew how to post a nice pic of her, I would) appeared on the cover of a little known women's magazine. When she got her own copy, in giant font, next to her pic on the cover, her name was spelled "Jasmine Bleath." Understandably, Yasmine was pretty digusted.:(

John, you're terribly insensitive and should ban yourself. :) Kidding of course... that was a funny mess up...probably not for your wife though. Although, I'm sure most people would be amused.

Excuse my ignorance, but this "B&H" thing ... anyone got a link for me ? ;)

B & H is at bhphotovideo.com and they are a video equipment supplier of very good standing. It was just that in a recent print catalog they made a couple of errors in describing the HVX200 as being HDV instead of HD. Nothing too bad, but good for a laugh.

I agree with Gibby. All my purchases are from B & H as well as Rush at EVS.

My wife was pissed. It was the 2nd time the dude screwed up (Spellcheck anyone?). Ironaically, the ones who laughed the most were her suppliers who are Chinese. They laughed their asses off.

Not the only mistake. I love their service. But I just ordered a 10' extention cord for my Rode VideoMic (Love It). The Rode.com.au website has the 10' cord as a mini jack at both ends (1 male & 1 female) with an OPTIONAL XLR adaptor. B&H editted that down to a mini jack to XLR with no mention of the adaptor. I have it in my hands and the Rode was big suprise correct which is what I wanted.

I came close to dealing with B&H, but EVS seemed to beat them out with regards to knowledge, so I've always dealt with EVS since ... plus the prices are great.

It can also come down to just who the individual person is you're dealing with, and if they make you feel like someone special, or if you're just eating up their time. It was probably just luck of the draw, with regards to the individuals I dealt with at the time with both companies.

Both receive a ton of praise here on DVXuser.

Well it's easy when you and everyone else here make me feel like part of a family. :)
