B&H Got me! EX1

So I ordered my EX1 on monday, paid for two day shipping and my camera arrived today! It was a demo version, so the price was -$300. I was so excited as i pulled it out of the box and looked it over, and it was in pristine condition! Powered it up and checked the firmware 1.11! and then i found there was no SxS card in the box.
their website states the card is included so i'll have to call them tomorrow and work it out. So much for shooting it this weekend and taking it with me when i go out of town next week. I searched but couldn't find anything local where i could grab a KxS, MxR, Dx and i don't feel like shelling out another 475 for another card when i already ordered a second one on eBay that'll be here later next week. was sooo close....
unless someone knows of somewhere in Virginia Beach i can find the card readers
Just wanted to vent!

-B&H was quick to identify the mix up when i contacted them and i had the card in a few days. Like everyone here said, mistakes happen even to the best. The better ones make it important to correct it quickly.

Sorry for the problems cause that shyte is FRUSTRATING!

But, at least no one lost and eye and you got a sweeeet deal!!!!
 
Isn't there a deal on the Sony site where you can get an 8GB card for free? I know there's one for the EX3, but I think there's still one going through March on the EX1.

How was the packaging, was it the original box? If it wasn't the original box, it could've easily been a human error, someone forgot to include the card in the custom packaging.

Although B&H is our competitor, actually every dealer's competitor LOL, but we do refer customers to them and the do the same for us. They are reliable and I am pretty sure they will work things out with you.

Yea it must be frustrating not being able to record anything, but hey you did get version 1.11, saves you the upgrade fee from Sony and also you don't have to worry about voiding your warranty / messing up the firmware update if you decided to do it yourself :).

:Drogar-Mark-04(DBG)The 8GB card promotion is only valid if you purchased it before December 15th, 2008 if I remember, I'll find the exact date tomorrow. I'm not sure if it pertains to *used PMW-EX1s.

Purchase a PMW-EX3 and you'll get the 8GB card (expires march 31st 2009) via mail-in rebate.
 
Yeah, i'm sure they'll work it out and send me the card, just sucks not being able to use it this weekend. I know people make mistakes, and it was the original box, but the box had been opened and then resealed by them and had DEMO stickers on it. I'm sure someone just forgot to put it in there, and everyone of us makes mistakes. I was just being a little shortsighted on the whole deal. I've always had good transactions with them. This was a purchase i was leaning more towards going with a local shop to keep things close and a little more personal, but in the end taxes and the reduced price won me over.
Thanks for reminded me but i had forgotten about the rebate stuff with sony. I'll check into that myself.

I feel your pain,
but If you really NEED to shoot this weekend , you can rent SxS, don't know prices in your area, here in Toronto it's $25/day for 16Gb,
 
Maybe I got your's! I got a demo unit as well - but not from B&H. I actually got an extra 8gb card (not including the special offer one - so I have 3 total) and an extra battery and the sxs card reader from Sony. For about -600 as well.

Sorry, just had to rub it in.

B&H said they'd look into it and ten minutes later i got an email that the card was on the way UPS three day.
I'm reading into all the card reader combos and will be getting one of those also, very glad for this forum as it has tons of info so i don't have to search too far and wide for it.

i wouldnt worry.
i do a ton of biz with bh each year.
they seem to be very solid. its not like the bh of 15 years ago.
im betting human error... theres or yours will be the question. in any case, i hope it works out for you. id recommend bh to anybody. never had a problem... ever. probly drop $20-$30K there annually.
 
Card arrived today, turns out because i ordered it regular ups and then the next day called and upgraded it to two day, they jump through hoops for me and got it all boxed up and out the door, someone just forgot to grab the card. Those guys are great, in eight years this was the first mistake i've ever had with them. it was just a very inopportune time. I was able to pick up a 16gb at a local place and was able to get my shooting done last weekend and the last few days.
