B&H accepting orders???

I was planning on buying the HMC150 this afternoon at B&H after seeing that they were back in stock, but now they're out of stock again (already) and now it says "Accepting Orders" instead of "Out of Stock."

The description of Accepting Orders reads: This is not a regularly stocked item. Estimated arrival at B&H is 7-14 business days. You will be charged upon placing your order.

Does anyone know why is it not a regularly stocked item anymore? Is it somehow being discontinued or upgraded already? Maybe that's why the rebate ends just before NAB. Just yesterday afternoon it said "Out of Stock," not "Accepting Orders."

I believe they received a VERY limited supply. Seems like there has been a rush on buying them over the last 5 days.

yeah, I figured it would be that way with B&H being first choice for most... So I ordered mine from willoughbys, and ordered all choice accessories from B&H. I received my HMC, and the B&H order today via UPS.

ARTinVIDEO, did you have a good experience with Willoughby's? I was thinking about them because the camera is in stock there, or so they say, but the price is $200 higher. I don't need the camera super fast, just want it fast. I guess I'll just place an order at B&H and wait, in order to save $200. That'll just barely buy an extra battery!

So, no one thinks the camera is being discontinued this early? Particularly with NAB around the corner?

Many have had good experiences with Specialized Communications. Other, like myself, have had equally good experiences with Full Compass. Both will be competitive with B&H.

yes it was a good experience, I chose to deny their warranty offer... the camera shipped the same day I ordered, and I got it with out issue (FAST)

I guess I got lucky? I ordered mine Sunday from B&H (when it was still listed as out of stock), and it shipped Tuesday. Should be here Friday.

As far as it being discontinued - that seems unlikely to me. It keeps going out of stock at online retailers, so sales are apparently good - and the thing is less than 6 months old!

Why in the world would it be discontinued when it is less than a year old and there are no major problems with it? Only reason I could come up with is that it is cutting into the sales of the HVX/HPX brand but I seriously doubt it. I believe people were waiting to see if it was the real deal or not so they waited to pounce. But the word is out it is the best camera in this price range and people are getting there tax refunds so they have money to spend just a thought :)

And why in the world would Panny discontinue a product they can't supply fast enough?!

Sounds like they have a "Hit" on their hands!

Which is good for us.....Because manufacturers and developers will be watching!! Accessories will be in abundance, and come down in price!!

Not-to-mention much needed attention....in the AVCHD Editing world, where we need the most advances!

"Out-of-stock" NOW...can only bode well for us in the near future.

EXACTLY. I wish apple would hurry up with the new FCP already transcoding sucks!

HAHAHA.....patience my friend. Even if it could edit AVCHD natively, you might have to edit 12fps since it require a lot of cpu juice to run realtime. Transcoding still might be done to alleviate the slow editing. :)

Let me emphasize from I saw in the video of Apple at IBC Supermeet, there is no direct announcement of AVCHD support in the next release of FCP.

None.

And there is no expectation of RT editing of AVCHD footage on any computer regardless of how it is configured.

If Adobe can't do it with my dual quad core, I don't think it is going to a slam dunk at all, if it all.

It should be pointed out that they can't supply it fast enough in an economy that is in less than thrilling condition. That speaks volumes.
